neat little unit but thermostat is set very low so even on max the room temperature doesn't get above 13 or 14 deg. Would work better as a frost protection unit.
Bought this to provide a bit of ambient heat in the camper. Spot on. Heats a small space particularly well and doesn't take huge amount of elektrickery to do it. Definitely a good buy.
I should have checked the dimensions more carefully - it's tiny. 800W sounds enough for a small room, but even with the temp set to max, the heater switches on and off and so you don't get a constant 800W. If the size and power are okay for you, it's a very neat little unit.
This heater uses an 800 W heating element, but because it is very small and light, it has very little thermal mass. The unit heats up extremely quickly, which causes the thermal safety cut-out to activate frequently.
In practice, this means the heater is cycling on and off constantly. Over time it appears to operate at roughly a 50% duty cycle, so the actual heat delivered to the room is closer to ~400 W, rather than a continuous 800 W.
While the heater does get very hot to the touch, that heat is not sustained long enough to effectively warm the room. As a result, it behaves more like a background or frost-protection heater, rather than a true space heater.
I returned it and replaced it with a heavier oil-filled heater with more thermal mass, which holds heat properly and delivers far more consistent warmth.
Pros
Heats up very quickly
Quiet operation
Compact and inexpensive
Cons
Very low thermal mass
Safety cut-out significantly reduces effective output
Not suitable as a main room heater where heat loss exceeds ~400 W
Summary:
The limitation isn’t the element rating — it’s the size. A heavier oil-filled heater performs far better.
Purchased to take chill off in conservatory does the job
Great little radiator, easy to mobilise, works very well for a small room and very pleased with the product...
Cuts out so frequently that even a tiny caravan doesn't stay warm
Really poor quality. The electrical section was hanging off and the fins were all dented! Returned and looked elsewhere for something that was built better
Great sized heater that kept my insulated wooden motorcycle shed at a steady 14 degrees throughout winter.
Low cost and really useful for under my home-working desk this winter.
Bought, travelled the half hour home and opened the box to find the plastic with all the electrics in wasn’t attached to the radiator, meaning the item was very much not safe for use. Clearly no inspection had taken place before the item was packaged at the factory; as it was clear it had never been attached!
Cable was too short (125 cm) for our requirements so returned (easily done through local Toolstation store).
Product looked good but never used so cannot comment on effectiveness.
Effective at heating a small room. Purchased for heating a home office and it’s working well. Compact so it can be moved away easily after use.
Its a pretty shabby little thing in terms of build quality but I expected nothing less for the price but it DOES however do the Job it is intended for. Ok for small room spaces but not sure how well it would last if you flogged it to death trying to heat a big room.
Mine is in a small loft playroom (insulated) and takes off the winter edge before the room warms up with heat from rest of house once loft hatch open.
Having read reviews of these leaking I took the chance anyway but stood it on some cardboard for the first few uses to check for drips but as with all mass produced gear you get some good and some bad. Mine was fine and has been for about 3 months now.
Nice and compact, great for a small place/room. Seems to give out a noce heat, time will tell.
Seems to do the job I need it for. Easy to use ................
A small but brilliant heater.Have placed it in the conservatory and it's ideal for a small space
Great little radiator. Kept me warm when camping.
Only complaint was that it did seem to leak some oil from somewhere so had to put it in a rubber mat.
Bought to put in the campervan over winter to take the chill off. Cheap to run and does the job perfectly
Great wee heater for camping and quick delivery too
