Crabtree electrical products always good quality, but this was just a blanking plate, not much more you can say!
Just what I needed and for less than £2 what more could you ask for.
This Crabtree blanking is well manufactured and easy to fit.

I bought this to match the existing Crabtree sockets that i had recently fitted, and it matches well.
As others say, not as deep as the matching fittings which is a shame, but does what it says.

Well made sturdy blanking plate,just the job.
I can hardly describe the joy and relief that this wonderful item has brought into my home and into my life. It has given me closure, specifically, the aesthetically-pleasing closure of a grotty and redundant pattress box near the back door.
There were some horrible electrics when I purchased the house, including a potentially-deadly catenary cable taking power to the potting shed. Its deficiencies had escaped my attention, but were detected by the electrician and his vigilant test equipment.
The electrician wisely disconnected and disarmed this thing of horror, leaving me to get rid of the residual (but now harmless) items. The cracked switch was discarded, and the ugly cabling ruthlessly torn from the living fabric of the wall, exposing raw and gaping areas of dirt-brown plaster. I plugged the wall’s wounds with Toupret Interior Filler, (which I have previously plugged on this site) and ensured that the-dirty brownness of the plaster wouldn’t soak through the final concealing coat of Magnolia with a judicious coat of Zinsser BIN (it’s good stuff too!). This left only the stark ugliness of the pattress box in which the cracked switch had lurked, now sticking out of the wall as a grim reminder of the horrible catenary.
This posed a conundrum. No amount of Magnolia could conceal the box itself, given it was only half-embedded in the plasterwork and stuck out nearly an inch. I certainly wasn’t going to chisel the foul thing out of the plaster either. I don’t know what appalling substance had been mixed into that horrible brown plaster 50 years ago, but its filthy dust was sneezier than rancid pepper.
The obvious solution was to fit a Blank Plate. Equally clearly, it had to be the correct Blank Plate, i.e one made to match the shape of the box perfectly, with corners neither too round, nor too square. Fortunately, I found the word “Crabtree” moulded into the box, and a little searching revealed that a genuine Crabtree Blank Plate was available from Toolstation.
Toolstation unfortunately do not provide a downloadable Technical Data Sheet for this fine item, so some of its more remarkable qualities were not apparent at first glance. Fortunately, the Blank Plate was marked with Crabtree’s very own part number (4001) and I was able to download the Data Sheet from Crabtree’s web site. This document is quite amazingly informative as to the less-obvious wonders of the understatedly-marvellous item which I had purchased:-
I found that it was made of white plastic, to BS5733 (No less!), and is both CE and UKCA compliant. It has an IPX2 protection rating…which I had to look up, and means that it is “protected against a solid foreign object with diameter ≥ 12,5 mm”
It also has an IPX2 impact rating, so if an incoming IPX2 comes flying through the back door I can be confident it will bounce off this sturdy Blank Plate. The peace of mind that this gives me is priceless, and it puzzles me that Blank Plates do not seem to get the attention that they deserve.
Summarized:- if you need a Blank Plate that fits neatly onto a pattress box (i.e. without the corners of either item sticking out in an unsightly manner) then just get one made by the same manufacturer, who will (hopefully) have put their name on the box. If the name in question is “Crabtree”, and it’s a single gang box, then this is the one you want!
