Crabtree 50A Pull Switch Double Pole Neon

One of the easiest pull switches to terminate. Excellent quality.

Quality Crabtree shower isolator, much better than cheap imports. Although unfortunately being discontinued I believe.

The instructions state that 'Cable preparation is carried out after the switch has been fixed, thus leaving both hands free to carry out cable termination and avoiding the need to push excess cable back into the ceiling void'. If only it was that easy. The switch it was replacing came within 1cm of the wall, had little if any spare cable and had a single cable entry point in the centre whereas this Crabtree switch has separate entry points for the in and out cables. Because of the two cable entry points the existing ceiling hole had to be enlarged significantly and the position of the terminal screws made it impossible to fix the switch first and still have enough room to use even the shortest possible screwdriver to tighten the terminal screws. After making new fixing holes in the ceiling and putting the cables through the two entry points I had to twist the switch round forcefully to where a screwdriver would be able to get to the terminal screws before inserting the core ends into the terminals and tightening the screws and then twisted the switch back round to it's fixing holes. It's a good job my other half wasn't around to hear my cursing. The Crabtree switch is good value and the cord pull operates much more easily than the previous switch (which had stuck in the 'on' position) but because of the two cable entry points and difficulty in installing the switch close to a wall where there is little if any spare cable I can only give it 4 stars – if not for this it would be 5 stars.

Unfortunately now being discontinued. Good quality switch that seldom goes wrong. My local branch had stock which saved having to re-schedule the job. Price was a steal too imo.

Not exactly low-profile or trendy, but there's room inside for two cables, decent value and I've never had one fail on me.

The switch seems well made to a very poor design. It's supposed to be used with, up to, 12mm twin and earth. It's very difficult and not good to bend 12mm cables to fit inside the body of the switch.

Looked quality product according to reviews so chose this instead of usual mk ones used prev, on fitting it was a bit of a struggle getting cables thru but perseverance paid of operation really good , prev others jam stick and overheat

Replaced a random brand one that only lasted 6 years with this. Seems a bit bulky but definitely much better quality. Ample space in the terminals that screw down good and firm. Switch mechanism seem very positive but only time will tell.

always use Crabtree when I can got exactly what I needed and at a good price

These are great BUT be aware sometimes you have to terminate them before screwing them to the ceiling, good contacts and terminals on these

Not easy to wire in cramped areas. Could have been made so much easier.

Crabtree products are some of the best on the market, and the price at Tool station is hard to beat.

Remind me to increase the rating if longevity outlasts the MK 50 amp put cord. This currently stands on average 2 years. Feels sturdy and robust but its a shame they only make a round version rather than a square option.

Pull switch. Good for smaller cables but i wouldn’t like to use 10mm cable in this

I payed a bit more for this item but the build quality is for better than other cheaper brands and should last longer
