I used two of these filters when installing a shower pump, one for the hot water supply and one for the cold water supply. The filters were installed vertically with the nut and direction of flow arrow facing downwards. They were installed between a shut off valve on each supply line and the pump hot and cold inlets. I think that ideally they should be installed horizontally with the access nut downwards, but they can be installed vertically. After they were installed the shower and the shower pump worked perfectly. There were no water leaks.

This is a solidly made item. However, the design of the bore has a step in the mesh area that can cause a restriction to full bore flow.
Use this to protect the inlet of a drinking water pump and check-valve on a boat. Works well
Reasonably priced, ideal for the purpose l needed it for ie installed it on a tank fed low pressure hot water supply to a kitchen tap, due to the design of most kitchen taps having reduced flexible supply connection hoses where the slightest bit of scale - debris - deposits in the system the hoses get blocked, Personally being old school l only install taps with 15mm - 1/2" connections together with full bore isolation valves etc.
I am pleased with the 15mm strainer it fitted easily and is doing the job I bought it for .I prefer to buy from Toolstation as they are a professional company who look after their customers

good product, Found cheaper than most online suppliers and was able to collect the same day.
1st one had a piece of casting inside that soon popped off, the 2nd's filter didn't hold in the cap like the 1st but they serve a purpose, that being a bigger filter area than the ones the shower inlet came with and also easier to service!
Bought these compression fittings for new shower pump were excellent perfect fit.
