Used this after draining, flushing and overhauling my 48 year old Vulcan system. It quietened the system right down and radiators are heating evenly. I expect this to protect the system and inhibit corrosion. Recommend this
I purchased this for a friend who had two back to back radiators that weren’t working, a plumber had said it would require a power flush to clear the system for the radiators to work again. To be fair a power flush would have done the job but at a cost and these two radiators hadn’t worked for a good 18 months, so I drained one of the rads and added the contents into the rad. Four weeks later hey presto the radiators are now heating up nicely and the rest of the system is now benefitting from being cleaned.
Used this to treat my system when fitting a new radiator. Great that it is an all in one treatment.
Easy to mix and apply, should last me a whilst in radiators
Seems to do exactly as it says... Even though I though my microbore heating system was fairly clean (I think), last year, the system was making clinking sounds, radiator valves were whistling, you could hear the water flowing... Drained the system, and water seemed pretty clean still (I had removed and flushed rads a few years ago, but had to have my heat exchanger changed since then so maybe that caused some issues). Figured this was worth a try based on the reviews. Put two bottles of this is in, as quite a big system, 14 rads, then ran the whole system on full heat for a few hours. Massive difference almost immediately, system much quieter, seems to warm up slightly better. Checked my Fernox magnetic cleaner after a few weeks and it had caught some black gunge so I assume that's stuff that this dissolved.
Really surprised, my next option would have been a very expensive powerflush, so very pleased that two bottles of this has made such a difference.
It's better because it does not just inhibit the crap, it dissolves it.
How do I know?
Ever since I have used this stuff the water always comes out almost clear - just a few flaky bits. It is never black, or even grey!
A combination of phosphoric and citric acids, it's not a surprise that it is capable of descaling your boiler, albeit slowly. And that seems to be our experience, with our hot water slowly getting hotter as the presumed scale (I'd taken apart and checked everything else) is dissolving. This was initially added at the end of August when we did not need the heating much. I did consider adding more but thought I'd take a cautious view before simply adding another bottle, so emailed them. This was their reply:
"The 500ml bottle is suited for a system of 10 radiators or a 100 litre system, so you shouldn't need more than a bottle unless you have a larger system than that. If you wished to add more, you would need your plumber to check the concentration level, and we can't advise adding any more as above the 10% strength, so do to so would be at your own risk. As you have used the system sporadically, I would expect that the more it is used, the greater the impact the inhibitor would have on the system, so it may be a case of 'time will tell' - give it a while and if you feel you're still having the same trouble, get back in touch with us and we'll see if there's anything else our team could advise to help."
In conclusion, unless you want to get involved with titration, or have the kit to test this (I don't!) think a little carefully before simply bunging a second bottle, no matter how tempting it is. It seems to be good stuff though.
Seems best value for money, cleans, protects etc., & a really good price too.
great stuff always use this as I can hear the difference !!!!
All in one bottle. All good for boiler and all good for the price.
Used this plenty of times on old systems. Drain down system and refill to avoid it clashing with previous products in the system. Takes a week or 2 to work and it does work depending on how much you use the heating. The boiler goes from noisy to quiet and the heating works better i.e the radiators heat up quicker as this destroys the limescale and sludge in the system. Use this to descale the heat exchanger without having to do it the manual way. The best thing about this product is that you leave it in the system after the initial drain dowm. The other products have to be removed from the whole system i.e drained down and refilled after a week or two.
Calmag inhibitor is a new type to me but it’s supposed to keep particles in suspension so thought I would give it a try
Good product used before, just need an extra dose+
This product i highly recommend used on many jobs since I discovered it even on blocked radiators and it cleared it
Good quality item that seems to work very well and I always put some in when I drain my central heating system down Which has been very reliable...
Does what it says on the bottle instructions are very clear
My Central heating system is a bit tricky. Tried so many different cleaners. All others need total drain down and refill and don’t completely solve the problem meaning a second/third/fourth cycle of clean, drain- down, refill, and inhibit. After adding this it does the job again and again and again.
This stuff is great. A few years ago my heating system was making a whooshing noise. I used a chemical cleaner and flushed the system several times. Used another inhibitor but still had the whooshing. Flushed the system again and tried this ChemCal and the system is quiet - not a whisper. I can't recommend this enough.
Excellent product have used on many heating systems 3in 1 what’s not to like
Top up with this when I empty/clean filter. Hard water area so much needed.
