The valve does not stop the flow of air making it hard to use , poor quality
Returned it for a refund after the first time I used it. Although I carefully ensured the tyre pressure was lower than the maximum specified, the attachment at the centre of the bottle cap stripped its thread immediately.
excellent piece of kit, helped to make the job possible
Poor Quality seals, squirted Clutch fluid everywhere
Easy to use, quite handy to have while you need to change oil.
Great little item, fitted my car well but needed to use both rubber seals to make the seal properly. easy to use resonable price. I used it to flush and bleed the fluid on a Freelander 2 hydraulic clutch. (same reservoir as the brakes) I did use compressed air rather than the air from the tyres though..(set at 2 bar)
Would recommend you buy its very good. No issues etc,
Absolutely brilliant easy to use anyone could do it
Don’t work won’t connect to tyre now no brakes and a flat tyre
On the outside it looks and feels well constructed. Then you try and use it, the most important washers that actually make the unit airtight, are rubbish. They are too soft, and even the slightest bit of tightening distorts and breaks them. This makes the entire unit unusable. I ended up bleeding the brakes the old fashioned way.
Easy to use. Used to bleed the clutch on my van one man operation
Its a good idea at a good price but just not strongly enough made. My advice would be to spend more and get a proper one from a known make.
The fitting in it's resevoir cap came loose whilst pressurised. I was working on the rear brakes at the time and only realised what had happened when i went round to the front of the car and saw this unit was spraying brake fluid out from where it's tube joins it's pressure cap for the brake master cylinder . It seems to have spewed aapprox half a litre of brake fluid arround my engine bay which wasnt fun to clean up and left me quite angry.
As time was running out to get the brakes bled I had to go to another spares shop and buy a proper heavier duty pressure bleeder from a known brand (Clarke). The replacement was around twice the price but was considerably better made and worked faultlessly.
Whoever makes this has cut corners and I just did not find it fit for purpose Im afraid..
worked as should, very easy to operate & was a reasonable price.
bait and switched by Toolstation on this one,
Beware this is not the streetwise kit pictured but instead Gunson’s Ezibleed was what they wanted me to take.
Toolstation are clearly advertising the streetwize kit and having used both there’s no way I’d give Gunson more money.
The ezibleed has good YouTube reviews from a long time ago but they recently made batches of bottles that don’t seal, Gunson/laser haven’t recalled them and don’t care that Halfords and Toolstation are selling them just hoping people will write off the expense and upgrade to their £60+ kits.
I’ve had loads of great stuff from Toolstation but this was naff.
Works a treat, although would be better if offered compressor adapter.
Cap would not fit resivior. Not universal should supply various caps
Firstly, the feature listed says Streetwise. The product supplied was Gunson. I trusted the name Gunson so took the tool thinking it would be similar. It wasn’t. While it bled the clutch really well in the end I had to fix it first because its made from cheap parts. It also covered my car in brake fluid. Don’t bother, go buy a better, if maybe slighter more expensive equivalent instead.
To give more details, I have used professional bleed kits in the past, as I once worked as a commercial/plant mechanic, but could never justify getting one for my now occasional home use.
But after doing the clutch on my sons 2012 Mini, the slave cylinder just wouldn’t bleed and the family got tired of the old “up” now “down” routine. I noted all the web/youtube comments that say
that Mini clutches are hard to bleed without a pressure kit because you cant get a long enough stroke to bleed theair out easily (and they are right) Plus as others say prevents master cylinder seal damage too )
I looked for a proper bleed kit, but at DIY prices and found this one from a “trusted brand”
However when I connected it up dry to try it and as per the instructions to check for leaks, I found the bottle filled with air but there was hardly any air coming out to the cylinder reservoir
So thinking maybe being dry was maybe the issue I put some fluid in it. Still hardly any fluid coming out. As it has clear pipe I could see that the pipes were clear but fluid was ever so slowly filling the pipe, so I thought maybe there was a little spring and ball valve in the aluminium connection?
I took it apart (bear in mind It was now filled with nice new clean brake fluid) which I needed to keep from my hands and the cars paint) and found the aluminium connection didn’t have a valve it, but was almost blocked. I couldn’t see what it was blocked with but some swarf or not drilled through. A hard poke with a small Allen Key cleared whatever it was.? I then connected the kit up again and it bled the clutch in seconds. Brilliant I thought.
However, I then realised the master cylinder and the tool pipes were now completely full of corrosive DOT 4 brake fluid, and despite me checking for air leaks first fluid was now leaking from the cap seal despite it being tight.
You also can’t then dismantle the kit off the cylinder without spilling some corrosive fluid (when taking the tool apart) Putting my thumb over the pipe helped, but then the master cylinder reservoir is still completely full right to the top.
Then how do you get the excess out without bleeding it out defeating the object, unless you have a clean syringe handy?. In the end I used a bit of plastic pipe with my thumb on the end several times
I then had to clean all the engine bay with lots of water to try and save the paint from the leaked fluid. Not ideal as I had to get the car off the jacks and out the garage first and hose it down
In summary, once I cleared the blockage (that shouldn’t have been there) in the tool,
it bled the clutch I had spent ages trying to manually bleed before getting the tool in seconds, but it also covered me and the car in fluid, and overfilled the master cylinder reservoir
The idea is great. But the quality is poor. Go and buy a better kit elsewhere. Mine is going back to tool station, and I will find a better kit ready for next time, as I really don’t want any brake fluid spilt over my cars
I bought this thinking it was the streetwise brand. Was supplied a Gunsons Ezzi bleed. I queried it in the store but not much joy. So I’ve ended up finding out the same item in Halfords is approximately £5.00 cheaper. Feel a bit cheated to be honest as the streetwise product looked better quality
Would work better if the valve clip would connect to the valve without leaking air
Cheap dont bother, it said use 20psi and the thing just exploded spraying brake fluid all over the engine bay
