The Brother PTE310BTVP has become the label printer I reach for first on big datacentre builds and rack jobs. It’s one of those tools you stop thinking about because it just works: print quality is sharp, lables stay put and readable, and it’s been dependeble across multiple projects. I’m very happy with it overall and would buy it again.
Day-to-day use is straightforward. There’s a short learning curve on the menus, but once you’ve saved a few common layouts the shortcuts and memory make repeat jobs quick to run through. The keyboard is clear and responsive, and having the option of the Bluetooth app means you can bash out longer labels on your phone when you’re stood in front of the rack.
Performance is where it shines: text stays crisp even at small sizes, laminated tapes cope well with handling, cleaning and rework, and print speed is fast enough that it doesn’t slow down a big deployment. The form factor is spot on for on-site use – compact, robust and easy to hold one-handed up a ladder, with tape widths that suit patch panels, fibre cassettes and power feeds.
Pros: reliable, site-ready build; excellent print quality and durable laminated tapes; good templates and memory; useful Bluetooth/app option. Cons: tapes are expensive with some waste, the UI feels dated, the screen is small, and wireless connectivity can be slightly tempremental. It's also a bit on the chunky side.
Overall: a highly capable, professional bit of kit which comfortably earns its 4/5 rating.
