This stuff just does the job. Yes, it's a bit messy and I hope you like the smell of linseed oil, because you will certainly notice that. But it makes waterproof joints easily and twenty years later you can scrape it off the pipework and apply fresh if you want to reuse the metal parts somewhere else.
