Absolute useless didn't drill one hole before getting blunt
reallly impressed went through tiles with little effort
Brilliant. Good quality and no cracked tiles. Very pleased.
I was trying to drill 5 mm holes in items of crockery and my existing drill bits were ineffective (using a bench drill, I applied so much pressure that I broke on item). Bought two of these drill bits (along with other tile drill bits) to make progress. I am very disappointed with the performance. Using one of the drill bits, I succesfully drilled one hole but when trying to drill a second, after drilling a couple of millimetres, it made no more progress. My bench drill shows the drill depth to a resolution on 0.1 mm and it showed no change even with increased pressure (I was reluctance to apply too much pressure less I broke another item). The principal problem is that the item is mis-labelled on the Toolstation website. The website shows it as "Bosch CYL-9 Ceramic Tile Drill Bit" whereas the item supplied is marked "Bosch CYL-9 SoftCeramic Tile Drill Bit". Looking on the Bosch website, this item is only for drilling soft tiles. (it is difficult to see the logic of anyone making, or indeed anyone knowingly buying, such a relatively expensive drill bit when many far less expensive drill bits are available for drilling SOFT tiles). Fortunately, Toolstation have kindly refunded the cost of both these drill bits which I bought.
If you are familiar with ceramic and tile drilling you know this type of drill bits don't live much. If you need something that will last onger than you need to spend more and get a diamond bit ( good ones start around 20). This said, for the price this is a very good product. I've done 2 holes, quickly and without any water , on a ceramic tile. Dont know how many holes I'll be able to drill again, but it did help me.to get out of the job quickly. Again, this sort of bits are not designed to drill many holes. If you are only making a few than it's great value for money
Bought 2 of these to drill standard ceramic wall tiles. Managed to slowly drill 2 holes with one bit, and just 1 hole with the other. Bits do not hold their cutting edges. Will be returning for a refund as they are not fit for purpose.
Expected a branded item to be a mark of quality, how wrong! First hole drilled was good went through tile in seconds, subsequent attempts took several minutes then would not even scratch the surface! Absolute rubbish.
Excellent product, though it is simply listed for use on ceramic, I was able to drill effortlessly through very hard porcelain tiles where anything else I tried failed.
Burned out quickly on regular tiles
I tried this on bathroom tiles and it worked great. I drilled two holes and it was grinding immediately on the first hole without much pressure on a super slow speed, maybe even 50 rpm. it advised no water and I didn't use any.
The second hole was a little slower but still drilled easily without any pressure.
Definitely worth it.
Did the job as intended - all good
After 20 minutes trying to drill a ceramic tile I gave up, it's not up for the job
For one hole then to bin..
Bought to drill into 3mm thick ceramic tiles and didn’t even manage one hole. Ended up using a multi construction bit which ironically was Bosch. All ways buy Bosch blades and drill bits but these are a swing and miss. Not the cheapest either.
