No issues getting these level or rebating in so happy all round
I was looking for the solid brass fittings that are so usual in old British library shelving - and even office shelving, which is flat, about 3/4" wide x 3/32" thick. It sits in a routered slot in the upright of the shelves and is flush with the upright face. That means the selves can fit snug to the shelf sides.
They are fairly solid, but the punching and folding has distorted the product, leaving them in need of straightening, which could result in buckling. I couldn't be bothered to take the risk.
Items returned.
I bought these about a year ago for one project. I am now using the remainder for a second project and have realized that the pitches are different on some of the strips making them useless. Now I have to take things apart and hope one of the spare ones match. Perhaps that is why they put 10 in a box? If I could return them I would.
Product good but since these are obviously fitted 4 at a time , the pack size is wrong ,m
These brackets are just right for the book case I was making great very happy
Ordered the strips for home delivery. 2 of them had slot spacings that differed from the other strips. It took 2 hours and 2 trips to the local store to sort the problem out, As they are sold in packs of 10 and used in sets of 4,I now have 2 unused strips that might not match up with the next pack I buy for my remainig bookcases. Poor quality control and pack size.
They seem a bit flimsy and the fixing screw holes are rather small.
Also why on earth sell them in packs of 10 when they'll be needed in units of 4?
Also Evri delivery left much to be desired as is all too often the case.
These are simple but effective shelving brackets which look really nice when installed
great product the only prob was i had to join them
Worked well on study full of book shelves. Customer was very pleased.
Whoever thought up the packaging for this product needs their head examined ! There's 10 strips in a pack.... but doesn't everyone know that a shelf has four corners ? four into ten goes.... mmmmm..... let me think....
How clever to pack in 10's when you either want 4, 8, 12, 16, etc etc....
So, I reckon there are piles of the discarded un-used strips all over the country. In this day and age it is not only wasteful its stupid.
Good quality for the price
Excellent product, stong and good quality finish
The strips look smart and work well once fitted. There are a couple of points to note. The size quoted is 16 mm wide and 6 mm deep. In fact they measure slightly more than 16 mm and need a 17 mm wide slot to fit easily. Another reviewer has noted that the holes are not sufficiently countersunk and leave even 3 mm screws standing proud. Indeed this so but, rather punch the holes deeper as suggested, I found by trial-and-error that it is better to countersink drill them deeper. Using a bench drill (eg Bosch PBD 40), once setup, some 40 holes in 4 strips can be drilled within 10 minutes. I found that, with punching, it is difficult to achieve consistency and the strips tend to bend.
does what it says but massively overpriced for avg quality metal and you have to buy 10 at a time which means if you are only doing 1 bookcase you have 60% left over and you have to buy the clips separate in packs of 10 again so 4 per shelf so if you want 2 shelves you have 2 left over and if you want 3 shelves you have to buy another pack. The cost is low but its still annoying. sell all in packs of 4 and you can buy exactly how many you require.
good product as described
Easiest way to mount shelving and top value - I've used it mainly straight and it's mostly hidden by the books, but if you chase out the plaster about 4 mm before mounting and then paint it virtually dissappears.
Decent shelving strips - a repeat purchase so knew what I was getting. These ones do not sit flush on the wood and protrude a few mm. When screwing in tight they deform easily but not a problem that prevents use.
My set came covered in a sticky oil that needed to be degreased before I could use them. (If this was a protective coating not sure it was necessary to be so sticky!)
This shelving strip did not have a good enough finish for the glass fronted display cabinets that I wanted it for and the shelf supports (available separately) did not fit that well.
It would be perfectly OK inside of a cupboard with solid doors when the strip would not be easily seen.
So returned it to store with no problems about a refund.
I then bought a slightly more expensive strip from a competitor hoping it would be the same as the one I had bought from them years ago but to all intents and purposes it was only slightly better than the Toolstation one and it also had identical packaging and shelf supports so probably from the same manufacturer. So clearly the quality product is no longer available.
