Excellent product, good watertight seal on the hinged cover which makes it difficult for a small child to open. An adult needs to put pressure low down on the cover in order to release the two catches.I like this feature, as it prevents the ingress of water. The RCD is another good safety feature. I highly recommend this outdoor double socket.
I previously owned an earlier version of this product, which lasted approximately five years due to the plastic hinges. I was fortunate to acquire this one at a promotional price of £15. While it has a pleasing appearance, I find it less durable than expected. Although the price I paid was fair, I would not purchase it again at full price.
I have just opened the box and found that there are no fixing screws present which is both disappointing and annoying as I can not now complete the installation without obtaining some
A good product well thought out ,easy to install and wire up , locks down tight with leads coming out of exits to stop water ingress .
So I would buy again.
Fantastic price and just what I was looking for. Will use Tool Station again, even more now that I know it's very local to me in Bamber Bridge.
Excellent product, well made .
Very good and easy install
BG have started putting their earth bars across the back of their switches. So in a tight back-box this takes up more box depth and can cause insulation on current-carrying conductors to be cut against the sharp edges of the earth bar and short. The only reasons I can see for doing it this way is that it's slightly less material content and cheaper computer-aided manufacturing. The old way of running the earth bar around the perimiter, where it's much less likely to cause a short-to-earth and also gives more room in the back-box, was much better.
The product overall is reasonably robust but still at the cheaper end, material-wise and fittings-wise. If you drill a drain hole, as instructed if using conduit, the instructions say you lose the IP66 rating but doesn't say what it drops to. Likely still quite high. The stainless steel cap is both attractive and robust. The back-box is square but the face plate is curved out beyond the back-box so no chance of neatly butting a few together.to save time and easier water-proofing. RCD works.
