Got this to cut a lot of supasoft rolls of insulation.Had tried knifes and heavy duty scissors which did not work. The Bahco insulation saw coped very well with the task and I can recommend it for this purpose along with the sharpener made for keeping the saw cutting smoothly.
This is a revelation no dust perfect clean cuts on rockwool slab and PIR sheet used it for 3days it’s still doing job brilliantly.
A very good saw for cutting PIR insulation, easier the thinner the PIR is but makes for a nice neat cut and with no mess.
Good quality saw, it was used to cut through wood fibre insulation and it made the job so much easier than when I’ve previously tried it with a conventional saw
Really does make cutting insulation roll so easy. Worth the cost as you can cut so much more precisely, so will easily save the cost in reduced wastage. So easy to cut the exact widths needed. Blunts pretty quickly but I bought the Bahco sharpener (from another online store) which quickly restores the sharpness. Definitely worth getting
If your installing celetex need to cut to size, this is the tool to use, also idea for cutting foam
This saw is absolutely brilliant for cutting foil backed insulation boards.
Super sharp & accurate.
My advice is to cut steady & slowly.
I’ve read other reviews saying that the saw is too flexible & it struggles to cut accurately.
This isn’t the case….. it’s the user that can’t cut a straight level line …. Not the saw….
Just fantastic highly recommended like a hot knive through butter
I bought the saw for cutting 75mm celotex foam insulation unfortunately this was too thick for the saw which did cut it cleanly but it was difficult and the blade distorted as you cut making the cut wavy. The saw cuts wool insulation very well but hard foam such as celotex maybe up to 50mm accurately.
There is a need in the industry to hand cut thicker insulation cheaply with such a saw but i think improvements need to be made such as a thicker more rigid blade that doesn't distort.
Regards Brian
Much better than tooth saw as leaves no sawdust and easier for accurate cut.
Bought this for Sheeps wool insulation and some hemp insulation, worked perfectly, would be great if you could buy the Bahco sharpener here too as anyone using this will find that wool does dull off the edges fairy fast.
I ordered on Tuesday and it was advertised that I would be able to collect next day. I tried calling in at 17.30 the next day. But was told it was not there and I would be contacted when it arrived. Now Saturday evening and I am still waiting. Not impressed
Quite difficult to push and pull through the insulation. gives a nice clean cut with little mess, but don't think I would buy one again. a standard saw, or scoring with blade on both sides then snapping on thicker sheets is preferred.
Great saw a must fir dust free insulation cutting even on rigid foam boards
Worked really well cutting my insulation no dust really clean finish
Used to cut Cellotex 100mm to insulate suspended timber floor from beneath. Followed guidance and did not attempt to use timber saw. Also set up a gig to make sure cut was at 90 deg. This is critical as well as only cutting 50mm on first pass and then full depth on second. It takes time but works. Due to variations in joists width every cut slab is different so very time consuming. May change to another manufacturers insulation, but saw is brilliant for cutting Cellotex.
Great saw, wish I’d bought years ago rather than using a standard saw. Takes a bit of getting used to, use across the line at an angle first to make the cut line deeper, then nearly upright to about a third depth of 100mm. Then stand insulation up and angle saw on in, level on way out, cuts square and easy if you regularly spray WD40 or similar on blade. Hard going if you don’t spray the blade. Makes far less mess than a standard saw.
Sharp! Very good for 100mm or less PIR board. Minimal dust/shavings when using which is great relief.
Really difficult to cut 100mm insulation, no wonder there’s no dust
A Must for cutting PIR boards. Used on 100mm. So much cleaner cut and no mesh compared to usual hand saw. Just as good through mineral wool rolls also
