Not impressed.
Blade is sharpened and serrated on one side and does not pass evenly through the insulation. I wanted it as I was installing 75mm. thick solid insulation in my roof space but the blade would not pass evenly throughout the cut . I am left handed but the blade was no better when I attempted using it with my right hand. I would not close back into the handle either as it was relatively loose around the pivot, but I was unable to tighten it at all.
I might have been better with thinner slabs but the blade wandered through about 8 mm. when cutting the 75 mm. In the end it was a virtual waste of money.
Sorry, I would not recommend purchasing this item.
Cut expanding foam clean and flush rather than trying to use a saw etc.
Expensive for what it is but was worth it.
Great knife for cutting pipe insulation - very sharp. Better than stealing the bread knife from home
I went to buy the rigid insulation saw as it said they were in stock at my local branch but when I got there they said they were out of stock but had the folding one, it was £6 dearer but I was in need to get the job done, well the saw is pretty useless for cutting EPS insulation boards, it doesn't cut square, I am a carpenter with 40 years behind me in the trade but will not be recommending this saw, be warned it is razor sharp and could easily cut you.
I liked the idea of a folding blade problem is the blade is a bit flimsy and its gone blunt really quickly not worth the money
Bought this to cut some foam. Worked well after a little trial attempt.
Starts sharp! Handy but not the right tool for hemp insulation batts
A very sharp blade that doesn’t create dust. Excellent on thinner insulation but the lower end of the blade tends to wander on thicker stuff.
Excellent for cutting through mineral wool. DIY garden room project, got the insulation done in half a day. Cuts through it nicely.
Great tool sharp and does a great job for cutting Rockwool insulation
Cut the insulation like a hot knife through butter, handy size as it fitted in my pocket when it was not in use.
Don’t bother absolute waste off money. Struggled cutting 25mm kingspan, got thrown in the van after one use. Back to an old pannel saw
Superb bit of kit, bahco reliable and sturdy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Best buy, effective for cutting loft insulation and blade folds away when not cutting
Work really well with Rockwool insulation. Cuts through like a dream.
Very good saw but quite expensive.
Folds conveniently for pocket or tool bag.
Works well to cut 75mm polystyrene sheet easily.
As always Bahco tools don’t disappoint, I have been using Bahco tools of all kinds for decades and the quality is always apparent in terms of usability, ergonomics and durability.
The big feature with this insulation saw is the fold away blade for two very important reasons, the first being that insulation saw blades are razor sharp and for safe storage and handling having the blade safely folded away when not actually cutting with it is a primary safety feature, secondly as the blade is quite thin and finely honed protection from damage to the cutting edge is very important, this is a tool blade you would not want thrown into a box or bag rubbing around with other tools etc.
So far I have used the saw for cutting 100mm thick Kingspan insulation to fit between joists and for cutting an inspection window in already installed insulation behind dry walling and find it does the job perfectly, I have a Japanese fixed blade insulation saw as well which cuts very well too, but of course the big thing with the Bahco tool is the folding blade facility.
If anyone is still using a conventional handsaw for cutting insulation, they should think seriously about upgrading to this Bahco saw as it doesn’t produce the dust that a wood cutting saw will make and you definitely want to reduce dust from insulation products when working with them.
The other very positive and instantly apparent feature worth mentioning is the ergonomic handle and the rubber inlay grip which make for easy use and less fatigue.
Overall this is a superbly designed and manufactured premium tool that will pay for itself many times over.
Quality bachco saw..bachco maintains standards others seek to achieve
If you cut insulation this one cuts as in soft butter with sharp edges.
