Right place at the right time....had been looking for some time for suitable downlighters to replace our very tired hall and landing lights, the problem being the ceilings are the old
1930s lath and plaster and many just can't be fitted in our situation. Spotted four of these in the clearance bin at our local Toolstation (Blackpool)....hint: always check the clearance bin for bargains! Because of the high positioning of the very strong springs these fitted the existing holes and depth of plaster and laths perfectly. For 8 watts they produce a real flood of warm light...really bright and a big improvement. The only downside...these were end of line...pity as I'd get some more to continue in our kitchen if available.
As an alternative...not long ago, fitted three Integral LED compact eco IP 65 downlights to our plasterboard bathroom ceiling...product 54453....warm white 3000k 5w 510 lumins...nearly as bright...both recommended.

Easy installation in 60mm cut out. No separate driver required so direct connection to 240v. Gives a bright light.

Theses lights were Very easy to fit and exact replacement for my original lights
I'm replacing existing halogen downlights with rusty bezels so bought one of these just to see if it would fit, which it did, perfectly. Looked great, too, and gave off a much brighter light. Went back to order another 9 to complete the installation only to find that there was only one more in stock and it was being discontinued.

If you source your products on line be sure to check Toolstation , not always the cheapest, but are never far short. The click and collect is a must and saves time searching the in store catalogue.
This was for a replacement of the same make and was simple to change and took no moore that 5 minutes.
Virtually identical diameter to existing ceiling plasterboard hole. Brighter light than previous failed COB led light.

Used one of these in our entrance porch and it does a good job. It's discrete and gives off a good wide spread of light. Have used several of these before and never been disappointed
