Decent stuff, but the truth is if weeds come through
Just what I needed, easy to lay(don't pick a windy day). Secured with ground pins. Works a treat.
Get a sharp pair of scissors to cut.
I wish it wasn’t plastic! Polypropylene..you might be able to recycle?? I have read online you can use ordinary cardboard to achieve the same result but the advantage I find is this is black..I use a mulch on top of it or slate chips, collecting these is heavy and difficult on public transport and using this underneath I find you can get away with a much thinner layer at times because you’re not having to cover every inch on the bed with a 2” layer or whatever, the black colour means it looks like it’s earth unless you get a really big empty patch…other benefits…used with “ground staples” to secure it foxes struggle to work their magic on it..I assume they polish it up nicely and get carpet burns on their little paws (har har) it also seems to hold water in the soil enhancing the effect of bark or chips in this regard..like water absorbing gel it’s just another line of defence against things drying out. Growing on roofs with containers this is an issue for me. That said ..In winter you might want to consider taking it up perhaps, I have seen some suggestions it can lead to increased risk of fungus thriving and causing problems with plants, so like everything it’s not the magic bullet! It’s a bit of a faff to fit, I find you have to take all the plants up and start over, cutting a cross for each, i fold the resulting flaps of material under while I plant and weight them flat with stones, a potting trowel is important as it’s hard to get the compost around the plant without getting it on top of the fabric which could give weeds something to get into. One fitted it’s pretty “fit and forget” if you’re not changing the layout..if you are..you can fold the cuts down and cut more until it falls to bits..then you can screw it up and use it in the base of pots for drainage..nice and light. I found prior to this my newly planted window boxes rapidly looked like a salad! Little tiny weeds everywhere
Excellent value for money good quality installation was quick and easy
Found this fabric to do the job I wanted. It seems to be good value & I would buy it again.
Looks like a good product, time will tell how effective it is
It is what it is doesn't rip easy worked will with slightly sharp slate
Good product which is easy to cut and put down. Time will tell if it works!
Tried to use over the top of a large area to kill everythig underneath. But it doesnt work, its too thin and water and light both penetrate the fabric.
Good product for the price easier to cut than the plastic version
Great value. Excellent service as usual. Speedy and convenient
Excellent product, does what it should. I would advise ysing ground pegs to secure if covering with bark chippings.
It looks like weed control fabric, it acts like weed comtrol fabric
I put this fabric down four weeks ago. I then covered it with 3 inches of 20mm Limestone chips. Today I had to start the process of removing the stones as the fabric has already failed with multiple weeds simply 'punching' their way through the fabric. I've now put a second layer on top of the original and will hope that is sufficient. On the upside it's easy to cut, easy to lay and seems to let water pass through.
Thin Quality, you need to double, treble it, better to buy heavy duty option.
Good material at a decent price. Easy to use and does the job with good coverage.
So far so good easy to use , easy to get from toolstation and good orice
Easy to use and does exactly what it says, reasonably priced
