I was delighted with these. They are not intended to be practical. These are decorative items, designed to give a door which already has a “working hinge” the appearance of having old-style “strap hinges” of phenomenal antiquity, and darksome dungeon-esqueness. They are for use in locations where an actual strap hinge would not be appropriate.
They are made to look like genuine forgework, and are a good imitation, unless one looks very closely. If you want bespoke blacksmithing, painstakingly hand-forged by the Dwarves of Erebor deep below the surface of Middle Earth, inlaid with eldritch Runes of Power, you will need to open your purse (and your credulity!) much wider than you do for these.
If you just want decent décor, at a reasonable price, these are a good substitute. They claim to be made from “malleable cast iron”, and have a somewhat-rough blackened appearance that one is free to regard as “antique”, “old” or “distressed”. Overall, they are good quality, and pleasingly solidly made.
In my case, they were for decorating a grossly-overspecified kitchen door. The frame was a non-standard size and had been installed by someone who didn’t believe in right-angles, so I had to make a door from scratch. It ended up weighing around 27kg and therefore needed hanging on good, solid, industrial-spec hinges (Grade 13 Ball Bearing Radius Hinges” Product code: 49611). Just two of these hinges would be sufficient to hang a door of 120kg, so I used three of them anyway, having more confidence in the strength of the hinges and the door than in that horrible door frame. I surface-mounted these hinges in the easiest (and ugliest) manner, rather than attempting to cut mortices, as the door frame was known to be full of gritty old filler and rusted screws’n’nails to blunt and break ones wood chisels.
At this point, whilst functional, the door was not yet aesthetically beautiful…hence I purchased and fitted these wonderful hinge fronts. They were then tastefully and subtly blended into the real hinges with a bit of black Milliput, some thin wood, some dummy rivet heads, and a lot of black paint to complete the illusion of ancient heavy-duty castle-door-style strap-hinges. A rim-lock (made by Era, Product code 79578) provided the finsishing touch, as the door needed some sort of lock or catch and I just couldn’t resist the black’n’brass of this lock
These hinge fronts (plus all the other bits purchased from Toolstation and shamelessly plugged here) have transformed this otherwise-boring door into a stunning architectural feature looking more suitable for an up-market dungeon than a kitchen.
If you don’t like my version of what is variously termed Dungeon Chic, Mock Mordor or Barad-Dur Bauhaus (or are better at woodwork than I am!) then feel free to craft yourself a kitchen door to suit your own tastes, and then crown your own efforts with the gracefully elegant finishing touch that these Hinge Fronts unquestionably provide.
I like the result, which is fortunate, as I have to live with it. As the Patrician of Ankh Morpork said:- “Never build a dungeon you wouldn't want to spend the night in yourself".

The hinge is a nice product, supplied with a durable finish. Why supply cheap and nasty screws which rust in no time and have to be painted?
Buy the item but throw away the screws and fit rustproof ones.

I have a very tall arch-topped garden gate which I wanted to decorate. I used conventional hinges; but wanted it to have antique looking black items (as I also fitted antique look black studs). The hinges were a perfect match; and I was very pleasantly surprised by how well made / sturdy they were. All in all a great buy!
