if you have something you need they have it ,great people
The handles are wooden and the connection to a very good quality aluminium part is extremely poor. The holes in the wood were too big and not allowed for any tightening of the screws to prevent free movement. The screws were way too short for those wooden handles, making the darby unusable. Had to return the product.
Basically a piece of ally extrusion that's got the tee groove to allow the fitting of handles. Personally I found it easier to use without them fitted and apart from having to deburr the roughly sawn ends it was perfectly adequate for my own needs. Those who do this for a living might not be overly impressed, BUT ,it did the job!
Never used as was already broken and very poorly made and if i could give zero stars I would
Good value Darby - sturdy handles and blade. Only iss was corner was bent and had to be hammered flat
A bit to flexible for my own taste but does the job
This no longer has poor wooden handles, mine has good plastic ones so is stunning value.
OK it is aluminium not stainless but if you want stainless get real on value .
Good quality, I was surprised for what I paid. Does the job of some costing three times the cost
Price related quality. I would pay more next time as one of the handles would not tighten up and pulled the captive nut out of the wood handle. Might be all right glued back in but I had the plaster on the wall and needed it there and then. You get what you pay for.
Wooden handles fell off from a few uses. Had to glue them back on
Came bent nothing on box to say do not bend very poor quality
Handles don’t tighten up enough to stay in position
I required a short (600mm) Darby for a difficult one-off repair job. I didn’t have a suitable piece of timber, and I didn’t want to spend too much either. The 1200mm darby ended up being my choice. I cut the darby blade in two, and dressed the cut end with a file. All ready to go, I thought, I tried to fit the two handles, but the threaded brass inserts in both fell out. £6 for a small bottle of Gorilla Glue, and 24 hours to harden, before we were ready to go. Made in China! I’ve learned my lesson Toolstation.
Does exactly what it says.
It's aluminium so probably won't last anywhere as long as a stainless one, but the price reflects this.
Also, everyone moans the handles fall off, that's because the hopes are too big for the inserts. Simple fix, flip the handles over, drill and 8-9mm hole and refit the inserts. Problem solved!
Handles are of very poor quality one split and does not tighten the other is cross threaded does not tighten, had to load them both up with super glue cant see this lasting before it's in the skip!!!!
It was broken waiting for another one. But there is one on order for me to pick up at the end of the week
I have scored this product 3 as both handles became loose immediately. After gluing them the item worked a treat.
Poor quality, not fit for purpose, not as shown on picture in catalog
