Didn't realise Smoke Detectors have to be replaced every 10 years or so .The ones fitted have been replaced by this one & with the easy fit base it was a 5 minute job ...Great price as well .

The ei146 smoke alarm is easy to install as it fits into the previous W=Ei140 base. I also liked the dust cover which would be useful in a new build where dust could into the sensor whilst the unit was stored before installing.

My ionising alarms had expired and seeing as they are being phased out if not banned already, I went for the optical ones. Easy to fit to existing wiring, and the body clicked together no problem. 9v battery included too! No more false alarms from cooking in the kitchen :-) Should be good for another ten years. Maybe not as loud as the old alarm but loud enough.
This was to replace my existing smoke detectors which an electrical survey found to be out of date. Replacement was straightforward and we only needed the top half of each unit, there was no need to replace the base.
