Good filter for your heating system, needs to have more explanation around if possible to fit to other size pipeworks. Easy to install even if your a diyer.

A good quality built particle filter kit for a central heating system. Easy to remove and replace for routine maintenance. The Toolstation price currently (Sept 2024) is very competitive for the kit package.

I had a new boiler fitted 6 years ago and the installer didn't install one of these because he said it had to be in a certain position on the pipework and it wasn't possible with my CH layout. Well, I looked at the Magnaclean installation instructions and he was wrong. I've been experiencing rads which simply didn't warm up like the others, so I bought this to install myself.
I'm very used to plumbing jobs as a keen DIYer and this was a joy to install. Everything has been thought of including the 150mm dimension for cutting the pipework. Ignore those stating that the cut out is less than 150mm, they are wrong and haven't read the instructions or looked at the helpful video showing that the 150mm is to allow inserting into pipework when the pipes are fixed - a really great feature.
I went for the Magnaclean plus chemicals kit because it made sense, given the normal total cost of all three.
I poured the cleaner into my expansion tank as the system was refilled.
After 3 days of occasionally running the heating circulation I closed the valves and opened up the Magnaclean. I was amazed at how much crud the MC had collected in such a short time - see photo. Plus the slow rads have started to warm up much quicker.

Fantastic pack to service and clean any central heating system. The cleaner sorted the boiler immediately. It's quiet now. Also the pressure stabilized and doesn't vary much from cold to hot. The filter is very handy to add chemicals to the pressurised systems and does catch a lot of black sludge.
