Heidelberg has supplied low-carbon concrete for use on the Crown Estate's 33-35 Piccadilly development in London. The materials were delivered to main contractor Kier and civil engineering firm Realtime Civil Engineering for structural works on the high-profile site.
The concrete supplied for the scheme incorporates cement decarbonised through carbon capture technology, alongside Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag (GGBS). By replacing standard Portland cement with recycled by-products and capturing carbon during production, the material significantly reduces the embodied carbon footprint of the structural elements on site.
