Wooden Seat Hinge Kit Polished Chrome

Loo seat fitted exactly making old one easy to replace.

Bought this to repair my wooden toilet seat, although not as good quality as the original it has done the job perfectly and for a remarkably low price

The standard low cost toilet seat hinges are dreadfully poor quality and not fit for purpose. From the ridiculously long screw that takes forever to tighten, super flimsy chrome main round hinge base. Because the screws undo within weeks of fitting because they are independent and not connected and flex with the movement of adults 15 stone plus. These replacements hinges are connected via a rod between the two making them not able to unscrew with movement. Only modification would be to make the hollow chrome rod 2-3mm longer as it will pop out of the cup hinge sometimes.

Needs to be redesigned, when the toilet seat is down the part near the hinge/bracket doesn't touch the pan

The screws that came in the kit had been so badly machined no cross headed screwdriver would work.

The rest of the kit was fine and fit for its purpose. Took a while to line up the new hinged onto the old seat but once that was done the rest of the installation was straight forward.

Had a wood seat and the fittings failed. Being a tight git I thought I could just buy another set of fittings. They were a nightmare to line up and screw in place and the end result looked a bit of a lash up. We out and paid for a new seat with fittings. Fitted and looking good in ten minutes. Take my advise a buy a new seat.

Very nice but difficult to install. I assume these must be fitted using a jig for sale as part of a complete seat.

I had problems removing the old screws of another type of hinge,
And found fitting this a little fiddly. And had to check location and alignment of seat and lid together. But now fitted and better than original

Usually happy with Toolstation products, however, I had serious problems with this product.
The first thing I noticed was that the crossbar seemed short, this I confirmed when, with the packing intact, I did a test at home and measured it against the space it needed to fit into, it appeared short but looked like it might just fit. I decided that as I had a broken fixing needing to be replaced, it was a Sunday and family arriving for a few days, I should at least give it a go.

When I opened the packet I found the crossbar was an extreamly filmsy thin tube which had been coated with chrome. When I tried to loose fit the fixing, I found the only way it would work was if I left out the pyramid shaped soft plugs, which help keep the units fixings secure in the two holes on the pan. If I left the plugs out I could then move the crossbar fixings far enough over in the pan holes so the crossbar would then fit into the fixings that screw into the toilet seat, but then only just and with space to spare instead of securly to the end of each fixing.

After a lot of effort I managed to securt the fixing to the pan and lower part of the toilet seat. I then attempted to screw the top lid of the toilet seat. I fixed it as intended with space to clear the metal fixing only to discover that the top lid would not sit flat on the toilet seat, after moving the top lid further forward the lid would almost close correctly but not quite, I had no more space to play with so I left it as it was. Later I discovered that the seat cover would not lie flat against the lid when in an upright position. In my opinion I do not think the lid fixings have been designed to allow the correct use of my toilet seat.

I will be researching an alternative product to replace this one, but have been left with more screwholes in the seat than necessary and of course out of pocket.

Very poor quality with inadequate instructions. Looks great but the long cross bar is flimsy. Repositioned the seat and fittings twice but it still moves about.

Not the most robust set of hinges, but easy to install.

I found this a little difficult to attach to the two wooden parts of the seat with only a sketch
diagram for guidance. Once I had all the components of the hinges in the correct set up
fitting together was straight forward. We are very pleased with the final result which seems
much more robust than the original fitting. There is however a little movement of the clamps
attaching the seat to the toilet bowl. I may need to add some packing around the threaded pin.

Check length of connector bar is same size as yours. I had to use existing bar but all worked out well.

Fixing broke on my toilet seat. This replaced it which is what i needed ot to do

as my template. Shown above
When I got home the hinge was a different shape, it would have been necessary to drill new holes so not a replacement item as advertised. I now have to return the item and source a replacement. What was a simple task has become a lot more expensive.

Does the job just takes a bit of time to work out center again if your replacing with different hinge type.

Well made product, easy to fit keeping original seat

Good reasonably priced product. Replaced the existing broken hinge qnd has worked really well.
