The ladder assembly has a solid construction and well built, good level of insulation as well. The seals around the hatch gives it a good draught barrier and feels great. It was fairly easy to install but I suggest it is a two person task and it is heavy to lift and position for one person. Overall a great product.
Was not a stock item, so had to be ordered. Was damaged on opening. One side of the frame had been forced apart which made the timber split around the staples that held it all together. I had been waiting a while for a chance to do this job, so couldn’t be bothered to go through the agro of a return.
I’d recommend inspecting your loft ladder on collection if possible!
Otherwise, easy to install and a nice solid piece of kit.
You need to separately purchase architraves to complete the installation.
The hatch door hangs about 10mm lower than the frame when closed, so not flush with the ceiling. Not so noticeable once architraves are fitted, but still worth a mention.
The overall impression after installation and about 1 month of using is quite positive. The advantage of the hatch - it is well insulated, easy to unfold/fold.
What I am not happy with - the frame could be a bit thicker and be made from hardwood instead of softwood. The door restrictors pull the screws down. So I have had to reinforce them.
The ladder also squeaks. But I don't have an experience of using such ladders, I assume they have a similar structure so squeak as well.
P.s. ladder is made from softwood as well.
