The jig is built well and works well except a couple of issues I've noticed. One is that the jig has a tendency to flex in the middle where the two parts join, meaning it can slightly throw off the hinge recesses.
Another issue which I came across today when installing a set of double cupboard doors was that the metal spacer which swivels around at the top of the jig is not completely flat and slopes down ever so slightly. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but when using the jig to hang double doors, you end up with one door higher than the other ever so slightly. Not sure if this is due to my jig being faulty so I will be taking it back to have a look and see what another one looks like. It's not such a big deal for hanging single doors as you can manipulate the door frame to overcome the issue.
When you need to hang 9 doors and you want precise and quick job this is perfect.
Cut the time it takes to do the doors in half. Leaves a professional looking job.
Very good easy to set up, just pilot drill holes for the bradawls in oak doors
Brilliant bit of kit, wish I’d bought one years ago
Great bit of kit which is a great investment for anyone that fits doors
Great piece of kit. Speeds up door hanging.
Only slight drawback is the bradawls supplied are not up to scratch and needed replacing after several doors due to the handles coming loose.
Toolstation says it can accommodate 3 -4 hinges
This information is not correct
It will allow you to set up the jig to fit 3 hinges
But to fit 4 hinges you will have to buy another aperture block from trend
I did contact Toolstation about this but nobody got back to me
So after sales services is disgusting
A joy to use! Far faster than marking up door and frame, much better and faster than hand cutting the rebates. This two part jig is easy to transport, quick and straightforward to assemble, setting up is straight forward, and the setting can be saved between jobs. Has saved me time again and again!
Great idea, but you need to be careful with some palm routers like the one I tried. If the router guide bush is not deep enough, then the router bit can easily just up over the plastic block inserts and chew them to pieces.
Also, the bradawls can be difficult to remove from sold core doors and in my case one of the handles pulled off and so I ended up buying better bradawls.
Great jig. Little fiddly but gonna use all same size hinges. Bought for myself because it’s cheaper fitting doors then selling the jig on. The construction is good. Your this will improve over time regarding setting the stops.
Easy to set up and use , great product I should have bought a long time ago
Great jig that fits in the car easily. Trend means quality.
Great tool, earns its keep in just a couple of days
Quality product very easy to use once instructions have been followed. Hinge cut out was perfect, very happy with purchase.
Not had chance to use it yet but it has a real quality feel about it as you would expect from Trend, comes in a quality bag with all the additional fittings required in storage pouches. Very happy so far.
Anyone hanging multiple doors must purchase this jig , it’s a massive time saver and once set up prevents costly mistakes.
