This is my first proper voltage tester, I've always got by with a pen type tester and a multi meter.
This is so much easier and quicker and I am really pleased with it.
One thing that put me off buying this type of tester before was the need to buy a proving unit,
But with the TIS851 tester it has built in proving and it works a dream.
Really happy and would definitely recommend it.
Good tool could benefit from retractable ends rather than screw on as these get lost pretty quick
Includes batteries & nice case (which included a small pouch in which you can keep the batteries. (We all know of tools we have gone back to with the batteries leaked) The tool itself is solid and did it's job well.
Works straight out of the package. It is straightforward to use. Note that to use any voltage tester whatsoever you must understand electricity, volts, amps, ohms, watts etc. And you must read the instruction manual. After that, this is easy to use, and I have already resolved three electrical issues around the house and garden with this device. I would have no hesitation in recommending it.
Well designed and easy to use. I had checked online before visiting the store, and bought it and was back home within 30 mins. Parking outside store, no queue, and knowledgeable member of staff made transaction very quick and reassuring.

The packaging and reviews suggest self proving, but the enclosed instructions say test on a live supply. Realistically that means you’ll still need to carry a proving unit. Misleading.
Excellent bit of kit, does what it says on the tin!
I wanted to use this as a more reliable method to determine whether a wire is live. This device tells me the wire is live even when power is switched off at the consumer board. I cannot therefore trust this device and must revert to the old method.
Simple unit that does the job. Don't mess about with electricity without one, it could save you a lot of pain.

Great little tester at a great price, does everything I need it too handy lcd v panel and audible
Nice easy volt meter, only issue is, when the continuity like shines it shine through to the volt detectors lamps, so got to be careful when reading it.
