Been looking at this driver for an age, but I already had the much older style stanley ratchet driver (actually Im down to three, now one has broken!) This is very well featured, but to be honest, the very features which drew me to it, are the very features which disappoint me - the fancy handle which can twist and become a pistol grip, somehow doesnt feel right. The other, the shaft which is detachable, is sometimes detached too easily, like when I put the driver handle first into a back pocket of my dewalt trousers. Its ok until I pull the driver out, and it becomes detached, and if you insert a driver bit into the handle - it is a real pain to get put again.
Also, the shaft wobbles quite a bit, which can make it awkward to get the bit into a screw.
But wait, there's more . . . The bit storage in the handle - fiddly to get the bits in, and fiddly to get the bits out. And, on a few occasions the handle cap has fallen off, apparently my palm has twisted it unlocked.
Wait! I nearly forgot - the collar which sets the direction of the ratchet, works the opposite way to the older driver (obviously I am used to the old one, Ive neen using that style for well over 15 years), it just feels so counterintuitive!
No idea why, but I still like it though!! Buyer beware.
Very handy and versatile. Extension bit can be replaced with any 1/4" bit so great for hard to reach screws in tight spots
A few of my mates had recommended this item. I must admit I'd recommend friends and family to use one. It does the job. 👍
Haven't used in anger yet but has a long reach and a handle that you can get a good purchase on
Has a solid feel to it with a smooth and fine indexing ratchet. I was skeptical about the adjustable grip handle, but it turns out to be ergonomic and comfortable. The push fit shaft can be removed and it will accept any other 1/4 inch hex shaft or accessory making it ideal for light mechanical jobs with 1/4 inch drive sockets. It's so useful I always keep it at the top of my toolbox.
A great must have. A screw diver within reach when a power driver is not required.
