Does the job value for money only down fall comes with one key cover
Good value. I wanted to make all my home cupboard doors easy to close firmly instead of relying on ball or other catches. The fact that each lock has a key means I can leave them in the lock. These did the job for a lower price than the big brand versions but note the spined key is NOT an interchangeable fit with my existing Yale*.
Quality finish of protruding bolt not great so I wouldn't use for a client.
Ideal for what is required to hold hatch in position
The security bolts are fine - unfortunately they supply very soft screws - pre drill all screw holes or struggle to remove snapped screws
These are probably the worst thing I've ever bought from Toolstation, and I'm a handyman so go there often. If I wasn't fitting them for someone on a tight timescale I'd have returned them. As a previous review says, the heads snap easily on the screws, the key disfigures easily, the lock gives no confidence when turning it - like there's every chance it could get stuck. There's no instructions or dimensions with the product so you have to do everything by eye. Also, better quality ones come with a little point on the face of the bolt that you can mark the frame with so you know where to centre the hole - this does not, so again it's guess work. This led me to locking myself out of one of the rooms I fitted these on, because if you're out by half a mm, the lock/key doesn't have enough quality about It to be able to force It open (by turning the key with force) It also only comes with one key hole cover, so if you were hoping to be able to lock from both sides, there's just going to be a hole on one side of the door. This should have taken me an hour to fit three of these but it took 2hr 15m and I still wasn't fully confident leaving the client with the keys. Hope they're ok and I don't have to go back. DO NOT BUY
Ideal to keep out Rugrat relatives from messing-up my office/man-cave and safe-space.
One of the reasons I don’t post reviews is because having completed the form it won’t let me send it so now have to resubmit it on this page. In this case I’m happy to do it to let people know just how poor the quality of this item is.
The bolts themselves are not too bad but the screws are among some of the poorest items I have purchased from Toolstation.
The screws came in a packet of 8 and as the first 3 out of 4 snapped off at the head making it difficult to get another screws into the hole the remaining 4 went straight into the bin so I’ll not be buying this item again
Basically sound but a raised sharp point on end of the 'plunger' would make it easier to accurately drill the hole in the door frame. The suppled screws did burr rather too easily.
Decent enough for the money however only one of them works well, the second one is very loose and difficult to turn.
Really soild. Easy installation. Extra security for internal doors. Working perfectly. Comes with 2 keys. . Definitely makes a door feel more soild. And more time consuming for intruders. God forbid. Thanks ts.
Simple, effective device. Door is fairly solidly locked and although not very high tech unless you have a key with you, it's a blocked entry/exit route.
Good value item to replace old door bolt. Good quality, but the door needed some additional work to make it fit. Old item was Imperial and new one was Metric.
Worth the money, and looked like a sturdy bolt.
u use TOOL station a lot at moment but this was a bad purchase just not up to the job, key was poorly made ran in thread, bolt wasn't square to face, just ended throwing it in the bin. had lots of great purchases but this one not!
For the price, these rack bolts are good value but not quite the quality you get by paying for the top brands
Dead Bolts are good but the screws snapped multiple times.
Not Happy. All the screws snapped half way in. Nice try Toolstalion but this time just too cheep
Its not suitable for what I require and will be returning it.
Within a couple of days being professionally fitted into the “slave “ brand new internal oak French door both keys have burred & the door cannot be opened - shocking as it was closed twice !
Replacement key doesn’t work so now have to pay to have the bolt cut through hoping it doesn’t damage the new doors or frame !
AVOID AT ALL COSTS WISH ID BOUGHT YALE STRIGHT OFF !
Strange because we had this type of bolt on external French doors for 25 plus years & no issuesissue
Great bolt but the screws are to small making them difficult to screw in!
The latch itself is fine, but a couple of things to be aware of. Firstly, be sure to mount the keyhole plate horizontally unless you have thicker than average doors! The screws to mount the plate are long enough to clash with the body of the latch if mounted vertically - luckily I checked first. Secondly, don’t risk using the tiny screws supplied. The first one I screwed in with no pilot hole as they’re so small. It snapped about 2mm up from the tip! I’ve never had a screw snap in the threaded portion before. Second time I drilled a 1mm pilot hole, this time it snapped at the head, even with the hole already there! Luckily I’m a screw hoarder so had some spares, but be warned - they will snap unless you’re door frame is made of jelly!
