Heats up well, happy with it! The thermostat is a bit of a gimmick since it is attached to the panel so it doesn’t actually measure the room temperature. I would prefer it attached to the switch or on a remote. Adjusting the temperature does control how long the panel runs, just don’t expect it to be an exact science. There is a big sticker which is a bit of a pain to remove. The surface deforms when hot, but that looks normal. I like the feet makes it easy to place in the room.
I bought the infra red panel as a test to use in our conservatory over Christmas. Mounting on the wall was quite straight forward though the supplied lead is very short when mounting this way. The control panel is a little awkward to use as when mounted on the wall you need to put your head against the wall and look up from the bottom. I's okay but far easier to control via the wifi/phone app which is very good. However, the set-up did take a little time as I had to set up an additional 2.4ghz channel on my router in order for it to connect. (If you need to do this you must come out of your 5ghz connection on the device you are using, connect to the 2.4ghz, install the heater, and then you can swap back on your device - A bit of a faff but hopefully that makes sense and its straightforward once you know).
As far as the actual heater is concerned we're very pleased with it. We previously used a wall mounted fan heater and this panel seems to do at least as good a job while running at 700w. I've still to experiment with keeping it on a low setting over a period and tended to put it on full power when I needed it, turning it down a little if we were too warm. So very pleased so far.
Not many negatives so far - It does look a little like a whiteboard on the wall and I had the odd visitor asking (jokingly) for some dry white pens so they could draw on it - I think I would be tempted to buy a panel with a custom picture on if I was buying one for this location again but they are quite expensive. One other slight irritation is the surface is not completely flat (a slight ripple in it) which is slightly annoying. I don't know if that is common in all IR heaters. So overall I'm very happy with it and am considering using IR panels elsewhere.
Great wall heater cheap to run and when you get your head round how they heat you up you would buy more would recommend too any one
Works a treat, and cheap to run. Slim and easily moveable
As expected. I’m glad I picked the biggest one. No complaints
Quite big! But very effective, it a very high tech open fire
Great heat warms up quick & can operate it from your phon
The heater works perfectly. I have it in the lounge used it for a couple of days now energy usage is low at 29 pence per kwh.
At first it seems as though it doesn't give much heat off but it is deceiving. I use it mounted on its feet (so I can move it around) in a large room (6m x 4m) with vaulted ceiling and velux roof windows. It does actually gradually heat the room up but more importantly it makes ME feel warm if I sit no more than 2 to 2.5 metres away from it, even if it is a cold day. I would normally have a 3KW convection heater on for approx 80% of time every evening. I now leave this on 100% but it is only 0.7KW so I reckon i'm consuming about one third of the power I used to and am just as warm as before.
I don't use the phone app, I just set the thermostat at max (37 degs C) and turn it on an off as required. It's a little on the large size but just what I was looking for and as expected. Job Done !. Buyers must understand this gives off "invisible" infra red heat and primarily heats objects rather than the surrounding air.
Heater works well and heats very quickly if you're sat nearby. Using in an home office so i don't have to put the gas heating on. It will heat the room as well but takes longer than say a fan heater would. Had no problems with the app on iOS and the timer feature is handy in case i forget to switch it off before I finish work. The only issue I have is that one of the screws would not come out to allow the foot to be fitted so I've had to just wedge the foot on but it seems fine.
Large panel heater that kicks out some serious heat! Just moved into a house with existing electric panel heaters, but these are traditional convector heaters. The problem I found was after being on for an hour using 2000 watts of electric the ceiling was hot but the room around me was still cold so thought there has to be something better. Very impressed, within a minute of being on you can feel the air warming up within 6 feet away. The App works well and is great for warming things up downstairs before you go down in the morning to make your coffee! As other people have said the wall mounting brackets appear to be on upside down on all three I purchased? Unless you are supposed to mount them that way? I don't know.. also the temperature gauge is about 3-5 degrees out, but off course it is mounted directly to the heater so this will affect an accurate reading, but ignore that just turn the temperature up until you find a comfortable setting. The panel is very big but extremely light weight and easy to manoeuvre. I have the feet attached at the moment but will attach to the wall later once the house refurbishment is finished. Energy cost are a quarter of what I was using. Very happy.
Used in a cold study as a mobile heater it works brilliantly keeping me warm at vey low cost.
Note that it does not work very well unless it is placed close to the desk.
A minor complaint is that the thermostat is inaccurate as the sensor is too close to the panel, but it just means that you set it a bit higher.
You can only use the heater if it is in WiFi range, you download the App, and you leave your phone on all the time. Otherwise it does NOTHING. You cannot put it on an old fashioned timer and put it on an hour a day. Of course it uses very little power because it’s so hard to turn it on it is never in use. I did try putting near my WiFi hub but the range of the WiFi is shorter than the mains lead which claims to be 2 metres but is less than 5 feet !
Easy to mount on wall, lead could be a bit longer.
Brilliant heater! Works soo well! Much better than a convector heater - wwarms up really quickly and keeps you warm, effectively heating a large space. We absolutely love the heater and the customer service from Toolstation was totally on point - they were super helpful! Would absolutely recommend both the Infared Panel heater and Toolstation!
Very pleased with heater, have it mounted on its feet, so it can be moved to where it's required
Trying out the effectiveness of the heater and works fine in the room I have chosen. Yet to check how much it is costing to run.
Brilliant! Works really well and warms up quickly (well, the people not the space!).
The whole process was quick and easy. Order online, pay, await confirmation that order is ready, collect. Could not be simpler. Staff in store very polite, friendly and efficient.
It’s ok, we bought it to warm the loft which we wanted to use as an occasional room for our son and were limited to the kWh we could use in the sockets. It’s warms a small area certainly not the sqft it claims to. I think if you want to use it in a small downstairs room it would be fine to heat it but not a loft space even if well insulated
