Flattening plaster is very effective with the flexible blade and performs well. There is some technique in terms of angle, pressure and speed to get optimised for the consistency of the applied plaster however the blade moves the plaster around and reveals any low spots for touch up. This makes DIY plastering much better quality in flatness before you polish the plaster. I plastered my 1890’s lounge repairing and skimming across various substrates and was very pleased with the outcome. I also bought an OX plasterers trowel which was excellent, these two tools made the job a high standard and although pricey I now can plaster the rest of my rooms.
Worth the money. Makes plastering much flatter and much quicker.
Fantastic! As a DIYer this was so simple to use to make the plaster flat. 100% worth it.
Love it! Makes even my ceilings look professional...
Easy to get good results early on, no doubt will improve with further use
Great, works really well, I'm not a plasterer and I managed to put this to good use
Great bit of kit ,really speeds job along and saves effort and time
Easy to use game changer. I’ve done some skimming in the past but have always been nervous of doing it by myself. The speediskim has made me confident to take on ceilings and walls without any worries. Highly recommended
Great product. Works perfectly. Thank you toolstation for the competitive price
Easy to use. Makes the job easy and professional 👌
as promised in the reviews and online. the main advantage of its use is the time saved on the job and the even finish, requiring less skill from the traditional plaster trowel.
Not been a professional plaster this helps to get that level finish
Great product easy to use does the job quick r recommend
Well made Skim. Ok if plastering at a thickness where it can be effective but not if you’re keeping the layers really tight like over Artex and trying to maintain the edge of existing coving
I have tried plastering a wall before and had to spend a day with filler and sandpaper to hid all the dips and lines, so i had no intentions of repeating my mistake, but unable to find a trades I brought a OX Speedskim as my biggest downfall is smoothing it the first time, once its flat i can managed a couple of passes with the trowel. I slapped on the plaster and managed to flatten the plaster in just 3 passes top, middle and bottom. Incredible result. I can honestly say i would have been happy to pay someone to get thst type of result. I saved so much time and money. I wish i had brought it years ago.
Great tool, simplifies the flattening process, and gets the plaster finish level quickly.
I've had a 900mm Speedskim for a while now and it is the one tool that has made such a difference to my DIY plastering skills. I can now get walls flat in such a short time compared to doing it with the float, it gives me more time to do the finishing stages before it all goes off. In fact I'm now standing around waiting for the coats to pick up (just like a pro!) rather than working flat out (no pun intended) just to get it flat before cleaning the buckets and getting the second mix on.
So, I had the main wall in the hall to do (12m2) and I thought I'd get a bigger Speedskim to flatten it faster. Well, it does cover more area than the 900mm but it is actually less useful than the 900mm when it comes to obstructions eg working around sockets, radiator brackets etc.
As a tool it is equally as good as the 900mm in what it does, but if I only had to buy one I'd go for the 900mm. Nevertheless, as a concept the Speedskim is a 'must have' for any amateur plasterer who wants to achieve astonishingly flat walls.
Saved me loads of time would recommend if you have plenty of walls to plaster
Easy to use and every plasterers dream tool highly recommended
Great! These are so handy for smoothing out larger areas. Used it and the blade edge still feels brand new. Bit pricey though.
