Mc alpine never fail, always good quality ! A bit dearer than other brands but always spot on
This one was the better of the two I did try the other brand Aviva, which was a bit cheaper and did look better design but in reality this one had a better quality Fred on the top nut which screws onto the bottom of your sink. So honestly if you want to save yourself some hassle I would say go for this one. Costs a bit more but it's a better trap & didn't leak which is the main thing!
Wanted was a 11/2” small bottle trap. While the thread size was correct the trap fitting would not mate with the my new waste.
The assistant at ToolStation understood the problem and solved it with the telescopic trap!
The smaller, direct trap would not suit but the telescopic trap did, one of those quirks of plumbing fittings!

I was going to clean out the trap on our shower room basin but as it was quite an old one, and made of metal, it would not readily come apart and had corroded badly.
So a quick look on line and my local store had this in stock and readily available.

Used this when installing new wash basin unit. Easy fitting and the adjustment meant no reconfiguring of the outlet pipe due to different heights on wash basin.
Good trap. I needed to replace one in my bathroom and my usual place never had any. Found this one at Toolstation for a good price and it does the job admirably.

Brilliant trap, well worth the money. Don't be tempted by cheaper alternatives as, in my experience, these often leak around the bottle trap seal. Easy telescopic height adjustment ideal for basin replacements and allows a little tolerance for the waste pipe position (for those who can't cut accurately), as always the McAlpine compression joints seal far better than most without the need to over-tighten
