Fantastic bit of kit, works for ever on a 5.0amp Lxt battery
Great sounding radio. Great price. Really pleased with this product.
my original now only works on mains, so wanted a new one at a good price. xmas present, so haven't tried it yet, but am asure it will be good
If you’re after something tough, dependable, and loud to keep you company at work (or on the go), the Makita jobsite radio delivers more than just tunes — it’s a tool in its own right.
What’s Great
Durability & Build Quality
Makita haven’t held back when it comes to making this thing able to survive a rough life. The radio is built with rugged elastomer bumpers, metal guards, robust handles, and an IP-rating to resist dust and water
That means rain, sawdust, tools banging around? No problem. It still keeps working.
Power Flexibility
One of its standout features is that it can run on Makita batteries and from the mains. If your batteries are charged already for your other tools, this means you don’t need yet another power pack just for a radio.
Sound Quality
Models like the DMR115 come with stereo speakers and a subwoofer, giving you richer bass, clearer mids and highs, especially when compared to basic radios. The sound modes (useful EQ presets) let you adjust depending on what you’re listening to.
Extras & Convenience
• Bluetooth built in, so you can stream music from your phone when you like.
• USB charging output on many models, useful for charging phones etc.
• AUX inputs too, so if you’ve got something without Bluetooth you’re still covered
What Could Be Better
Because it’s built tough, it isn’t lightweight. If you need something ultra-portable, this isn’t the most compact. Moving it around repeatedly might get tiresome.
Battery Drain under Heavy Use
Using Bluetooth or pushing it loud notably uses more battery. If you rely only on battery power, be prepared to swap in fresh ones or plug in when you can.
Sound Limits in Very Noisy Environments
While sound quality is good, some users report that in very loud job sites, the radio struggles to compete with background noise, especially when using Bluetooth input. FM or DAB tends to come through better.
You do pay for what you get. The rugged build, versatility, and feature set come at a higher price than basic radios. But many users feel that the cost is justified given how well it holds up.
If I were you, I’d say the Makita jobsite radio is excellent value for anyone who wants durability, good sound, and flexibility of power—all in one rugged package. It’s not perfect (nothing is), but for job-site environments, or even outdoor leisure, it strikes a very good balance. If you want reliable sound that can take a beating, this is one of the top contenders out there.
i like this radio, great design, rugged, works well. id of given it 5 stars if it didnt eat batterys so quick, my older one a battery would last 2-3 days, this new one is a day max and thats with the sub woofer off.
Nice bit of kit but batterys dont last as long as the older model i had
Used it for 3 days and the button stopped working in the middle. Took it back. They wouldn’t replace it but sent it off to be repaired. That was nearly two weeks ago and still no radio
Cracking piece of kit definitely worth the price would definitely recommend
As a Makita tool user and a music fan, I went and bought a radio. Radio is well build and you can use three different tips of batteries, plus a mains to power it up. You can customise sound to some extend. For a site radio decent options.
However, a mate bought the Dewalt radio and I think his is more powerful, although less customisable. But we can't have it all.
Only a week old, I can tell I'm happy with my choose.
Excellent upgrade from my old Makita site radio which didn’t have DAB+ or Bluetooth. Must say the Sound quality is superb, especially with the 7 equaliser function modes & the subwoofer at the base of the radio. Another great feature is the aerial whic is situated in the handle.
Good radio and Bluetooth which works great.. what u expect from makita

Great radio, dab+ & Bluetooth, with amazing sound.
Great sound and very solid. Very happy with this.
Expensive compared to others, but as ever a good quality item from Makita.
