Angle grinders are very useful tools for anyone cutting, polishing or grinding materials, from hard steel to ceramic tiles. The Makita 115 mm 18V LXT Brushless X-Lock Angle Grinder is a compact cordless version that can be used in any location. This model is powered by a lightweight, long-life 18V LXT Li-Ion battery, so it’s not too heavy to hold. It also has an ergonomically designed handle that can be fitted to the right or left side, making the grinder easy to handle, not too tiring to hold and safer to use. It’s equipped with Makita’s X-LOCK mechanism, which means the operator can change the wheel with one movement – one lever controls this, keeping it a simple process. One of the key built-in safety features is to ensure the grinder won’t start up accidentally after a disc or wheel change. Additional features that promote smooth, safe operation include Active Feedback Sensing Technology (AFT) and a battery protection circuit. AFT shuts off the power if the tool suddenly slows down and the battery protection circuit protects it from high temperatures, overload or over-discharge. It's a nice hand held grinder. Easy to use, well balanced, good for cutting metals and stone/tiles with the right blades. The on/off switch does take a bit of time to get used to but it's a safety feature to prevent accidental switching on. I bought this to replace a previous one that was 12 years old - so they do have a long life.
Great tool but Just make sure you can get the “x lock” cutting discs that fit this product before you buy it.
So very useful not to have to carry disc changing tools when working in the garden for example or on a ladder, the range of discs is a little limited at present which is perhaps the only drawback
Really nice and easy to set up , works so smooth, also the way the blade pop in and out is so easy to chnage its amazing.
The 18v makita platform tools are all trade rated. This brushless Grinder is great for heavy and light use.
Very good very nice cuts thru tiles like thru butter
Only just started using this tool, but early impressions are very good. My unit was made in Belgium and feels very well made and refined, as is normally the case with Makita products. I do like the x-lock system but it may not appeal if you have a large amount of standard discs. There appears to be a limited amount of aftermarket discs available at the moment, but hopefully this will change as more people adopt the system. I believe x-lock discs can be used on the usual spindle lock grinders.
