Seemed robust (time will tell), was easy enough to instal and gives a decent light. The cable (and decent size battery) makes it possible to position the solar panel where it picks up more light and so allows you to put a solar light where it might otherwise be too shady.

Good detection and a bright light

Originally, I ordered one of these to provide illumination near my entrance gates for visitors and delivery drivers. Having set the first one up, I was impressed by the brightness of the light and the good detection distance (around 10m), so I ordered 2 more for other parts of my garden. On opening the box, the light looks the part with a large, opal-lensed lamp and a large solar panel. The lamp assembly is fixed to a backing plate with 2 small grub screws top and bottom, which, when opened, gives access to the removable battery. The backing plate is fixed in position with 2 screws and the lamp is refitted to the backing plate with the 2 grub screws. There is a compressible seal between the backing plate and the lamp assembly, which should prevent water ingress. The solar panel comes with 5m of cable ending in a jack plug which fits into the underside of the lamp assembly. The solar panel is fixed in position with 3 screws. The lamp is adjustable up and down, and left and right, whereas the solar panel can be adjusted up and down only. I found that the 5m of cable was quite adequate to position the solar panel so that it caught the best sun throughout the day. Even in February, I found that it captured enough sun to keep the lamp charged in PIR mode. There is also a dusk to dawn continuous mode, but the instruction leaflet says this will require at least 8 hours of sun per day to operate this mode. When I tested the light, I was impressed with the brightness and range of the light. It is not a spotlight, but a "gentle", well-dispersed flood light. It gives enough light to be able to see where you are going 10m away. I have only given it 4 stars, because I cannot comment on its reliability at this stage, but the design looks very promising to withstand wind and rain.
