Frankly I quite like the smell of white spirit. I don't know why it smells and if having less of the smell is better for you. I assume it is still a volatile organic substance that is best avoided. Either way it worked well enough.
This is a product I have bought before. It does the job, but why it's so much more expensive I don't understand!

This is perfect for the job. Have used this make for a while because of the low odour.
Its a good allround solvent to remove oily residues. Takes a while to fully flash off, but low odour and gets the job done. Bit more pricey than the smelly stuff but I take that to keep odour down.
