So far so good!
Works well to remove post hole soil (one done so far).
Well aware this is a budget item (taken previous reviews into account) so I ‘cut’ the hole with a spade and used the digger to remove the loosened soil. Better than scrabbling around in the hole by hand and much quicker.
Our ground is fairly soft, so can’t say about clays.
Really useful, use in conjunction with a trenching spade and a bar to fit gateposts prior to post creting in
Really good quality, very robust and little heavy but its just what you need. Im underpinning so very good at digging and clearing out.
Excellent makes fencing so much easier my back is much happier now!
Useful tool. Simple and well made, seems strong so will hopefully last. Quite heavy. Good purchase for me.
As described. I did not try any other means to dig a hole or remove soil so can’t compare with other methods but this tool is simple enough to use and very handy especially when making a good shape hole. Nice weight and still intact after digging 4 fence posts holes
Strong solid construction. Dealt with hard compacted soil quite well.Holes required less postcrdte to secure the posts and saved money.
effective for what it does, helps dig a vertical hole for a post.
This helps getting soil out of narrow holes at depth, but not perfect. I found that the jaws don't close fully, so soil needs to be 'claggy' to come out properly but certainly does help. I'm using it for fence posts where access is limited as the neighbours patio goes up the the boundary
Pretty solid construction, good for the price. Not sure on its longevity, but definitely serves a purpose and will do a couple of projects.
I had never used one of these before, but a friend recommended trying one so I got the Hawksmoor version as it already had good reviews. I was surprised how much easier it to dig holes for putting up my new fence as I was using an auger and post hole spade before which were hard work in comparison. I would definitely recommend it.
None available for delivery, non in my closest store, planning to buy for a while and found them in another local store. Brilliant, grab them while you can.
Good, heavy enough, good build quality. But a “ flaw” was reported in another review. Sometimes it won’t grab hold of the stuff you want to pull out of the hole. Why? in current conditions (drought) the soil clay breaks up in small lumps and the “jaws” can’t grip it as they don’t close tightly. Not a flaw with the tool. It’s like trying to pick up dry sand. It just flows through the gap in the jaws of the blades. I “watered” the hole to make the materials I was digging out more “sticky”, it worked.
Bought after trying to shovel out post holes by hand, this saved loads of time. I’ve another fence to do so will be perfect for future. Sturdy also
Very good value post hole digger, decent weight sturdy build, nice sharp blades. Very satisied with this digger.
Sturdy and easy to use. stayed sharp for long time
A sturdy and robust post hole digger for a reasonable price.
Good item well priced and well made .
Used to clean hiles of debris
Works well .
Could open a little wider to remove more soil .
But I have never owned or used on of these before
Good price and well made , made digging the post holes easier
Great grabs, nice and lightweight making them easy to use
Great tool, definitely solidly built, digging 22 holes in the garden for a garden room and it’s making the job so much easier and the holes very precise.
Could be a bit lighter but maybe I could also do more weights I guess lol
