Hawksmoor 2200W 40cm Electric Chainsaw 230V

Bought this to cut some logs that had been given to me by my neighbour. My previous Titan saw had just broken so i thought this looked a better saw overall. I was not disappointed this literally was so easy to put together and use. The cutting action is smooth and so far no kickbacks or issues with loose chain. Would thoroughly recommend, not too heavy for a female user like myself.

The Hawksmoor 2200w chainsaw was a bit of a surprise for a first time user, quite light but sturdy in build, powerful motor which is less noisy than a petrol chainsaw, a good reach on the cutting chain with a nice balance overall. The one tool in the box enables you to build and adjust the chainsaw but it can bit a bit fiddly to adjust the chain tension so I used a flat blade screwdriver, no chain adjustment hand wheel on this model. The safety brake handle is a pull back for off and forward for on but I would have liked a handle you hold in place for off which then turns the chain saw off as soon as you release the handle, it’s quite easy to put the chainsaw down and forget to push the handle forward. My hands are medium in size and I found it easy to press the trigger release in with my thumb and operate the trigger at the same time one handed while holding the main handle with the other hand. The mains cable is a bit short and could be double the length but an extension lead got me to the top of the garden ok. Once the chainsaw is built up it is too big for the box it came in which is a bit silly because you need to keep the box if you need to return the saw under warranty, so you have to strip it down again but I found that enabled me to clean the sawdust from around the chain drive gear and oil feed, caution when removing the plastic cover to clean out the sawdust or remove the chain and guide take car of the two rubber seals, one around the oil feed and one on the inside of the plastic cover, they fall out very easily. Don’t forget to purchase chainsaw oil because it doesn’t come with any and make sure you prime the oil feed before cutting any timber. I am afraid the chain supplied with the saw is very poor quality and only lasted one day cutting branches before the chain went blunt, I then had to purchase a new chain to finish the work, the new chain from Toolstation is a different make to the chain supplied with the saw so we shall see how long the new one lasts. Overall I am glad I purchased the chainsaw because it does make the work easier and faster and for a occasional user should be ok.

The front handle, right on the left hand side of the blade (chain track) has to be pulled. Nowhere tells you with what force. I've paid £60, brought the chainsaw home, followed all the instructions and, when I came to this handle, I pulled it up to a breaking point and it didn't want to move. I started dismantling bit by bit, thinking it's just a little blockage. I ended up removing apart every single component. Being so complicate made it inside (too many metal and plastic small elements), I couldn't put everything back. After few hours of trying I gave up and "stored" it in the trash bin. I went to buy a different one from a different supplier.

I’m no judge of chain saws but works well cutting up some tree trunks I had. Have a petrol chain saw but neither myself or hubby can get it started now, no strength. This electric one gets the job done.

I BOUGHT THIS FOR TEMPORARY USE AS MY PETROL CHAINSAW WAS PLAYING UP, BUT ITS FAR BETTER THAN I EXPECTED AND WILL NOW BE MY GO TO CHAINSAW, I WILL PROBABLE THROW OUT THE PETROL ONE!!

I was quoted over £600 by a tree surgeon to remove a Ginko that was starting to cause root damage. So I did the only sensible thing and spent 10% of this amount on a Hawksmoor electric chainsaw. I used a ladder and a sawzall to get to the high branches and only used the chainsaw when I could work at ground level to remove the lower branches and the trunk. It literally took minutes to get the tree down safely and I quickly had a pile of logs cut to size ready for seasoning.

Set up was very quick, you just need a spanner (supplied) and a flat blade screwdriver. Instructions were clear enough and the customer support seems quite good for such a low cost product.

In total I probably only used it for about 30 mins, I had to adjust the chain tension a couple of times and top up the chain oil during that time - important to pay an extra fiver for some chainsaw oil.

Overall one of the best tools I've bought for a long time and it saved me a huge amount of money.

Easy to assemble, made short work of large logs. It feels robust. First impressions are that it is a bargain, if you only need to work close to a mains power supply.

Was looking to afford a second hand chainsaw but they cost more than this brand new with guarantee so why take the chance?
Was up and running in 15 minutes after unpacking, everything was in the box - except - and I nearly took a star off the review - except the chainsaw lubricant, which I already had anyway! Overall a lively wee chainsaw and very pleased with this purchase.

Very happy with this chainsaw. Easy to set up, and it made very light work of the logs I needed to cut. Worth noting that oil is not included in the box, so needs to be bought at the same time.

Had a couple of petrol chainsaw in the past. This is by far the best chainsaw I've purchased, no messing just gets on with the job. Cutting logs up to 15 inch's in diameter. Very pleased with this Chainsaw
