Struggled with overcut slightly wet grass, can feel it struggling to get through it then it leaves big clumps of grass sitting that don’t go in the basket. Yet to try it on shorter more dry grass, so giving it 3 stars.
A small lightweight lawnmower, tried out on my large lawn and long grass, did the job. Surprised by the quick time it took me. Less wet grass getting stuck in blades, quick and easy to empty cuttings. Works really well.
This is a brilliant lawnmower for my 83 year old father In law who still loves to cut his own grass. It's light weight and easy to use.
Really good quality and cuts well. Really heavy though.
Hawksmoor lawn mower
Lovely piece of kit, just moved in to a new house and it cut overgrown grass very easy, strong sturdy machine, easily adjustable height of the cut making it easy to mow the grass to an acceptable level!
Definitely advise others to buy this item especially if they have a large garden area
Was looking at several mowers around this price - my garden is a decent size so I do need a more powerful mower so didn't want to go below 1600w. What made me choose this over the competitors? There wasn't a single negative review. Ever being the pessimist I did wonder why, lets face it, people can find fault in everything but I pressed on with the purchase.
The assembly was easy enough and I was soon out onto the green stuff. My lawn had grown a bit and in places gets quite thick, so I was certainly throwing the Hawksmoor in at the deep end.
I was instantly impressed with the cut, started off on a middle setting and it was as close as I wanted it to be. I can image the lower settings will cut very short.
The mower cut the thicker patches with ease, my previous was a Qualcast and whilst it was pretty old it never cut thick grass as well as the Hawksmoor.
So, maybe all those positive reviews are genuine because for the money the Hawksmoor 1600 is fine mower.
Made up with my new lawnmower , very light and at my age easy to use and empty the grass out of it - Thanks Screfix .
Bought this mower for the daughter. She has always had a hover mower which she struggled with. After mowing two lawns in half the time it normally took and to a more aesthetically looking finish she was well happy and at the price it was good value for money.
Cuts the grass with no problems. The reason that I didn't give 5 stars is that it is noisy.
Really like this mower. Over the years I have had a few mowers, Bosch, Flymo, Qualcast, & more.
This mower is a cut above the rest (pun intended) Wider than average & whilst I have a medium to large lawn area, this reduced my average mowing time. Never had a mulching feature on any previous mower.
How I so wish I had. During this especially dry spell, it has protected & enhanced my grassy area.
Wholeheartedly recommend this mower.
Thank you Hawksmoor 👍👏
This is a great lawnmower. It gives a great cut to my grass. The cutting height is easy to adjust too. The handles fold down to save space when stored.
Just used it for the first time, and think it's a great mower.
Absolutely brilliant, seriously, and very very good value for money, WOW what a machine.
After using other cheap mowers over the years I only had moderate hopes for this but wow. The quality is fantastic and it’s a true beast. Way less effort getting through thick stuff and less basket changes. Smaller touches like the metal guard on the height shifter make this feel way more premium than I paid. Would recommend.
Does the job well, easy to order and collection convenient
In itself this mower cuts my lawn well but there are things I don't like about it...
The manual make a vague comment about turning it off when transporting it around the garden, I have paving slabs around two sides of my lawn and the moment this thing goes near them with the motor running there is grass everywhere, yesterday just the front wheels touched the paving and that was enough for it to spit grass out.
The collection box/bag is sloping towards the mower (rear higher than the front) which to my mind is stupid, to empty the thing I've resorted to tipping the mower back so the handle touches the ground so that I can get as much grass as possible away from the front opening where it attaches to the mower itself. Lifting the box/bag off is a fuss too - reach through the mower's handle to lift the grey flap with one hand then reach through the handle with the other hand to grab the box/bag handle to lift it off the mower, tip it back and place it on the ground so the grass doesn't all fall out and then adjust hands to pick it up again. Good job there's that interlock button as I've knocked the power handle a couple of times while taking the box/bag off.
The little flap on the collection box/bag that's meant indicate when it's full seems hit and miss, closed one moment (indicating it's full) and open the next (indicating it's not full) but who's going to be looking down at that while mowing?
I'm not sure about the pointless 'alloy' spokes on the wheels too, they rotate independent of the wheels which are actually solid behind it, so just seems like it's destined to trap grass cuttings behind them...
I purchased this lawnmower as a gift and the recipient says it does a good job 👍
Great mower, one of the best ive owed, if not the best
Price is right, easy to assemble and quality appears to be good, but due to rain have not yet used to cut grass, however I am sure it will perform well. The reason for only 4 stars is because Toolstation took a double payment from my bank, causing me much stress untill refund credited back 3 days later after phoning their head office. So I am now hesitant to place future orders.
Seems to take less time to cut the lawn and nice even cut leading to less frequent mows. For the price it's better quality than the B&D it replaced.
