After assembling the lawnmower and filling the oil and fuel getting it started took ages, I don’t think that the primmer bulb works. Time will tell if the lawnmower is going to be reliable going forward as the engine looks very delicate. I bought this lawnmower out of necessity as I needed to finish a job of.
Bought the Hawkesmoor mower mainly because of the Briggs and Stratton engine as my previous 17 year old mower had one and never failed to start first pull even after the winters lay up, apart from a bit harder to pull because of the extra compensation...its a nice easy to use mower.
This mower start’s really easy a couple of dabs on the primer a steady pull on the starting pull cord and away you go cuts and collects the grass well I needed a reliable mower as my garden is big enough to park 3 articulated lorries in , this mower cut it with now effort at all just simply go for a stroll behind the mower 👍👍👍
I've been using this mower now for a fair few months due to a recent flip in career I have been gardening six days a week since May 25. I had to commit to purchase the mower as my job request were getting larger and larger so I needed a Petrol mower as opposed to the Bosch electric mower I have had for some years.
Overall I cannot fault it, It generally starts first or second pull of the cord, it cuts very well at any of the levels available, the self propelled option is a real bonus for the larger lawns and those that have an incline, you have to get use to the clutch as sometimes it can jerk until you get use to it.
The only negative so far is the paint work underneath has already started to peel off which is disappointing, appreciate that It's been a soggy summer at times but even so, You'd like to think it would last at least 12 months.
Bought this for my Gardening business. The gear cable snapped within 5 months but it may have been unlucky running over something. The thing isnt built the best but with a briggs and stratton engine, thats why i bought it. I unfortunatley have hit a few rocks which has put a slight kink in the shaft but its still going and its been used and abused (Mulched many a twig, skinny branch) hit a million pine cones and chuckies. The blade is a doddle to remove. Hawksmoor sent out a new drive cable for free which is good but christ it was a pain to fix myself! Got there after 2 hours.
3 Weeks ago the deck height adjuster started slipping due to excess movement in the rea wheel axle so now its been relegated to be a mulching mower only and bought the same one(£40 cheaper in the sale). I didnt even change the oil in 18 months. hahaha. If you dont abuse this mower i cant see why it wouldnt last you 5 years which for £240 is good value.
No issues , been using a while and starts every time
Fantastic piece of kit. Very Solidly built. Very easy to put together following instructions.
Starts simply & very easily. The different levels of cutting length is brilliant, and along with the wide 46 cm cutting width it's ideal for any size lawn. Really good grass collection with large capacity grass bin. the Self-Propelled element is amazing, literally rest your thumb or fingers on it with the slightest press & off it takes without any effort from you, it's brilliant. Undoubtedly the BEST Lawnmower i have ever brought and extremely Great value for Money & would recommend to anyone.
Works well, starts easily, good value for the money easy to manoeuvre around the garden
Great bit of kit expensive features at a bargain price
Perfect for sloping gardens and easy to use. Never an issue starting a Briggs & Stratton
An excellent mower...this is my second one ..first one is still going strong...I use them most days as i am a part time Gardener...light weight & reliable
A very well built mower and at a very competitive price p
I absolutely love this lawn mower. It was so easy to put together and so easy to use. I prefer to use it over my ride on lawn mower.
I suppose this lawnmower is probably viewed as a "budget", machine but so far it has performed extremely well. It has a good cutting width, starts easily and doesn't appear to use much petrol. Good range of cutting heights and being self propelled makes the job a lot easier. As usual the Toolstation staff at Sighthill Edinburgh were very helpful and carried the box out to the car for me. So far I cannot give it less than 5 stars and would give it 6 if I could. Price is hard to beat.
Used for the first time this week and did a great job of both front and rear lawns. Much quicker to cut than my old mower and easy to adjust height of cut too. Nice and light to manoeuvre and easy to remove grass basket too. Very pleased with purchase and the fact that it came with free oil too.
Well built, strong, easy to assemble, easy to maintain, starts first time. Useful from deck carrying handle and deck cutting height handle also easy to use.
We bought this self propelled mower because our 20 year old ride on finally conked out. It starts easily and cuts the grass very nicely. One word of caution: the self propelling function only has one speed. Also, if you have a large garden, you’ll have to empty the 55 litre collection gag fairly frequently. The first time I used ours, I used the mulching plug which spared alk of that. If you’re used to operating various garden machinery and are reasonably fit, you’ll not have a problem using this mower imo.
I bought this mower as a last minute decision when my 25yr old petrol mower finally gasped its last breath and died. I quickly reviewed several mowers and finally opted for this great little self propelled Hawksmore 125cc petrol mower. Boy I was not disappointed it takes having a new mower to really show how rubbish your old mover was. I would recommend this little beauty without reservation to anyone in the market for a petrol mower it’s super easy to assemble I did it in less than five minutes and was up and mowing. One thing don’t forget to buy a litre of engine oil because the mower ships to tool station dry (no oil of fuel). Buy one you won’t be disappointed.
Solid mower, self-propulsion is a godsend. Cuts well, great to have so many height options, as well as the mulching plug. Only thing I was left wanting was a slightly larger collection hopper, but not a biggie.
Fantastic value for money. Great machine and what more could you want than a Briggs and Stratton engine.
