I bought this to remove and stabilise rust on steel stock and tools that I bought at a Car Boot. It is the first time I have shelled out for Evapo-rust rather than use a cheaper product and I'm happy that I spent the extra money.
From surface rust to more ingrained corrosion, the product just worked. I de-greased the items ahead of time to give it the best chance and it was definitely a good tactic. This is so much better than using paint-on gels or tiny pots of liquid and it is still going strong. I note that you shouldn't keep it at low or high tempoeratures and it smells a little sulphurous but it isn't overpowering.
In my opinion - well worth the money.
This product is probably very good at removing surface rust, but for more stubborn heavy rust, not so great, submerged my rusty item for at least 24hrs, and still hadn’t removed it all. Also the price is very high at over £42 for 5 ltrs
Does a good job but in a side by side test is only as good as similar stuff that is half the price
Worked as promised and cleaned my lathe bed and chisels right up overnight.
Worked fairly well on a load of rusty bolts and washers. Got through a fair quantity of it.
Good product does what it says. Use in numerous time when repairing machines and to clean any rust if tools.
Great product for removing rust from engine internals.
Purchased to clean out an old motorcycle tank took away some of the rust but not a lot
This stuff actually works! I derusted some old Motorcycle parts, and if you are willing to allow it time to work, and give them the occasional wire brush to help it along, it is really good.
For heavy rust it takes a while to work and may need more than one soaking, but it does work. Only downside is it’s quite expensive.
I used Evapo-rust on very established rust and gunk. I left items in the liquid for 48 hours and the result is amazing. Right back to bare metal. There is a light grey patina on surface, but this rubbed off with wire wool.
Just as good as the reviews all say it is. The 5-litre size is by far the best value if you think you will use it all. There's possibly an issue with certain items of high carbon content, where an item can be derusted but look blackened because a lot of carbon can be left on the surface. Otherwise a superb product.
It does indeed remove the rust without using apparently harsh or toxic chemicals. So you can put away the marigolds. Thick, scaly rust does need a couple of treatments, with a brushing off in between to remove the worse.
Does what it claims.. better than the home brewThat I made but it's not cheap. I made a dustbin full for half the cost of 5ltrs. Im not knocking Evapo- R, its quicker than mine.
Seems to do the job. But leaves a sticky residue after use. Not really. Comfortable cleaning the thing I just derusted with water...

This worked well for me. Wheel nuts from the car came up well as did all the nuts and bolts that came off removing various bits. I definitely works - recommended.
Used on rusty cylinder head left for 2 days all rust gone. Now ready for work to done then back engine.
