Great quality and value. These post anchor shoes are perfect for fixing a post that is part of a structure but if the post is to be freestanding* for some reason then I would recommend that the post is set in a hole with post concrete. *Posts <1 metre may be fine but risk assessment should be carried out.
These shoes/anchors are not adjustable but the vanes that are pressed into three sides allow a snug fit for planed finished posts (typically 85-95mm. However, full size 10mm posts will need to be modified to fit unless you can hammer them on to the post before setting.
The clamp type, while being more convenient for full width posts, are not as tidy and are generally about 3X the price.
These shoes were easy to fit and the post fitted easily inside
I bought two of these and have fitted the posts into them.There are metal creases inside that grip the timber and I found that it helps to chisel some grooves to match these in order to get the shoe to fit.
Some brute force with a hammer ensured a good fit and there's no way they are coming out! The paint finish is good and the price is good compared to the competition.
Its a great bit of kit well made . But be prepared for some work fitting a 4x4 unless you can get a good whack with a hammer its hard work .
Unless you chisel some of tge post away .

New to using the non bolt post shoe and eventually I got the hang of it but not as. Easy to fit the posts into, I ended up using a sledgehammer which either damaged the wood or the post if I turned the shoe upside down.

Toolstation went beyond expectations to get two of these available for me at an alternating depot nearby on the day I initially went to my nearest depot. These brackets are strong and good value for money. Be prepared to use a fair bit of hammering with a heavy lump hammer to fit them to your post before you rawl bolt the bracket to the ground.
