I managed 2 'reasonable ' bends on 10mm copper pipe before the bender became loose and deformed the pipe every bend afterwards. After 10 attempts just gave up with it went and bought one of better quality.
None of the quality control issues mentioned by others, but instructions would be nice as it is quite difficult to get an accurate bend.
Decent quality bender. I managed to get kink free bends. You have to make sure the pipe is fully settled in the forms and that the arm is as far bac to the form and again, fully on the pipe. The markings could be clearer and instructions for novices would be helpful. Recommend doing a few test bends to learn where to line up the pipe markings.
I've only used this bender on 10mm pipe, but I've found it "wanting". It is squashing the pipe. Probably another tool destined never to be used again
Great bit of kit which makes perfect bends.
Used this to bend plastic coated 8mm gas pipe and was not disappointed with the results. It is a bit fiddly getting it place ready to bend but not too bad once you get used to it.
A great looking job at a minimal expense.
Certainly does the job. As others have pointed out it needs a little filing to be smooth, and the bolt tensions need sorting and a bit of loctite, but decent in the end, and these are the only ones that fit the plastic coated 10mm pipe
Better quality than expected for the price. Needed this to bend 180's in 10mm tube and it did the job perfectly. Simple and effective design covers 3 pipe diameters, produces an even, smooth bend without kinks or necking. Just the job.
Did the job at a reasonable price
Okay for general bending, pipe retainer catch fiddly and not smooth to engage
Really good and in stock. Worked a treat on 10mm pipe where as my old one folded the corners.
Very handy small pipe bender. Easy to use in tight spaces
Excellent service and polite warm smile from your colleague in the store. Products really good quality at a very welcome reasonable price.
I purchased this tool for the installation of radiators using 10mm copper pipe. Found the tool easy to use and was able to achieve precise bending upto 120 degrees. Great tool, highly recommend.
Does exactly what it should no issues with it have used others performs the same
A lightweight bender only for copper pipes. There's no clamp, just a catch bar, so not much use unless the pipes are very soft.
The good:
- It WILL bend tube.
- The handles are steel with plastic ends and the connection to the formers is robust. The handles are also a bit longer than other smaller benders
Just about everything else is bad:
- There are 0-180 degree markings, but no 0, L and R markings on the other former to help you be consistent. You could draw your own from some test bends I suppose.
- The ergonomics of it are bad. When you start a bend, the handles of it will be 180 degrees apart, rather than 90 degrees like some of the smaller benders. I found this makes it significantly more difficult to start the bend and to keep the tube aligned how I wanted.
- The build quality is poor. As another reviewer commented, the formers have flash on them from casting but it can be filed off.
- The position of the handle would get in the way of some existing bends in the smallest (8 mm tube).
- Although the handles are good, I don't think connection between the top former (the flat one) and the arm between the formers have a strong connection
For info:
- It helps to oil/grease/lubricate the tube and the formers.
- The bend radius on this is about 32 mm, compared with about 25 mm for another 10 mm tube bender I have.
- The threads on the handles are M10, in case you want them for some other project
Conclusion: It's useable but it's likely you need to do some clean up work with a file. I bought this for £20, which I think is expensive compared with 6/8/10 mm pipe benders available elsewhere for less which have better quality formers. Not recommended unless you have to bend 12 mm pipe
Not clear how to use, no instructions included, in fact kept falling apart
Well made pipe benders that bent 10mm copper tube without creasing the pipe or distorting.
I was replacing a radiator in a en suite with a chrome towel radiator and had 90 degree and S shape bends to shape when running new lengths of pipework.
I was pleased with the purchase I made. I ordered the item on line and they were in store early morning next day for collection.
Well pleased with Tool Station and the product
easy to use good quality product bought to use for one off job
Thrown these away after 2 uses, bought in emergency as I had lost my usual bender and these were the only ones available, they are clumsy and difficult to use, there are no bending guides to aid measurement like other brands, doesn't do a very good job of bending the pipe and squashes the pipe.
flattened pipe rather than bent it, waste of money.
