Rotates very well. You can rotate with it, or you can alternate hands.
I bought this to help pull the soil out of post posts I was making with a petrol augur which I was finding very heavy work. It works like a charm. The build quality is also very good and for the cheaper end of the augur market really worth the money.

I managed to drill holes in hard ground but the handle was loose as the screw to lock it would not tighten.
I bought this to help dig out a wide, 1m deep hole. The ground was very hard with many stones and I could not make any progress with a spade and fork. Even a pick axe struggled to make an impression. This auger, whilst needing a bit of force, was perfect for the job. I was able to bore several holes to almost a metre and then remove the remaining soil.

Good tool for the price. It does the job that it’s designed for. I find that it’s a little on the short side for a fence, but cannot complain as the length is specified in the description. The screw that holds the handle however could’ve been designed better as a single screw tightens down on a bar that slides in, however this is a tool which in certain ground conditions, requires a lot of force to be applied to it.

Cracking piece of kit, made digging holes easy, also great for loosening tree roots by screwing it between them. Recommended!
Works it’s way through even quite stony ground.
Just watch out because it is quite hard to sufficiently tighten the screw securing the handle to stop it falling out.
Well designed auger.
Cuts through the ground really easily, and not troubled by small to medium sized stones.
Makes a clean hole about 4-5 inches wide, and the auger design allows you to pull out the excavated soil. After digging the initial hole it was easy to enlarge the hole to make it big enough to take the larger post and postcrete.
Well made, and definitely strong enough to do the job it's designed for.
