Exactly what you'd expect from Doncaster Cables and Toolstation. Collected from my local store from friendly helpful staff. The meter tails are exactly what you need and are nice and flexible which helps during install.

Bought these for a renovation job where the consumer unit had to be temporarily raised away from the wall to allow work behind it, before finally bring replace.

I bought these as they were specified as being more flexible than standard tails, which they are due to more and thinner copper strands. However they are still extremely stiff, so for “inside the box” use I am using 25mm2 tri-rated cable instead. For exposed use these are probably quite good as they have the extra outer sheath required by regulations for exposed cables, and are definitely more flexible than other meter tails I’ve used. I do wish they’d make the outer sheath brown and blue like the inner insulation, rather than grey.

Why oh why have I not used this before?? All those years all those times I’ve struggled to bend tails into tight spaces. This is a dream to use, I do still recommend using a piece of round pipe etc to get a perfect radius. I’ve read some people are still struggling with this, well I can only say how much easier these tails are than standard.

I ordered these for my electrician to do some electrical work in my meter cupboard, as I’m A carpenter joiner by trade, so I leave this to the boys that know what they’re doing it was great

I found these "flexible" meter tails harder to form than the old tails that had been installed 44 years ago (new build property back then) old non flexible tails once formed to the required profile stay that way as you would get when plumbing and bending copper tubing. Problem I had with the flexible tails is that they would 'spring' back from the desired profile needing much over bending to allow the springy effect.
These mains tails were advertised as flexible ! Not as flexible as hoped 🙁 . Have used Doncaster flexible tails in the past & have been very pleased with their performance . Maybe l was unlucky & just got a bad batch .Word to the wise :- Check how flexible they are before leaving Toolstation . Usually they are Bob on but be careful you have been warned.
These tails are good quality, easy to use/manoeuvre as needed. Way easier to use than the non flexible tails definitely worth the slightly extra cost
