Maybe not as good as creosote but the next best thing now bthat creosote is no longer available. It is very dark brown, almost black.

The product looks and behaves like original creosote, runny, oily, penetrates the wood very well. This particular shade of brown gives a rich dark colour. I’ve used it in the past and it does fade a bit over the course of time, but that just brings up the original wood grain look, whilst still being thoroughly protected. I’ve used the other range by the same manufacturer and I’ve found both are fine, this range creosolve is a lot cheaper though, good value for money. Gives good coverage too, seems to just keep on going. The lid is great as it’s simple to reveal and reopen. Recommended.

Came in a metal tin as opposed to the one it shows in the image, it was quite a struggle to get the lid off
Virtually identical to the creosote I ran out of, when painting a side gate. Same colour, similar smell, maybe a little thinner and slightly more penetrative. Excellent result and a good price too.
