Cheep as chips and does the job. I used this for a one off bathroom job and it performed well.
It’s cheep, cuts well and at the price it’s a one tool does all. Just don’t expect professional outcomes form it, if that what you need then down the extra.
Beware this one needs a drill running at 200rpm max. ..... much slower than most available. Go for a variable speed drill or maybe use a dimmer switch or similar that is powerful enough to run your drill. Nicely made I'm sure it will do the job. Just check the speed to avoid breakage. Mabe use a cetrepunch or cold chisel (with a light blow from hammer) to break tile glaze for centre of hole.
Just used it and it’s terrible, took ages to make the pilot hole then the hole cutter is useless and broke in minutes
Decent value, but not suitable for porcelain tiles.
This product is not worth it at all - dont waste your time . Im definitely returning this
Surprised Toolstation are putting their name to this
I brought this cutter to cut 3 hole in 8mm ceramic tiles. I checked the reviews before buying and was a bit dubious as there was a fair few negative reviews. I wasn’t disappointed, this cheap hole cutter done the job with ease.
I needed a hole cutter for a home project, just a coupe of holes in 8 mm ceramic tiles. This tool did the job perfectly. I checked the reviews before buying and to be honest, was a bit concerned with the mixed reviews. However I was impressed with it, easy to adjust for required hole size, easy to use, cut 4 holes no trouble. My advice is not to go at it full speed, set the drill on the lower soeed setting and come tell the speed on the trigger, not full bore. Cut through the back of the tile first half way through and then flip the tile over and finish the cut from the glazed side.
Waste of money. Didnt even cut through 1 6mm ceramic tile before the drill piece was done.
Only good for one cut. Needed another to cut another hole
Would not tighten on shaft and cutting tip chipped off
A cost effective way to cut a perfect 30mm hole in ceramic wall tiles,
Absolutely rubbish, waste of time and money failed to cut a 60mm hole.
Used on thick wall tile, didn't touch it! Went in the bin. Might work on lightweight wall tile
Bought this based on some of the better reviews to cut one 65mm hole in a 6mm ceramic wall tile. Drilled a small pilot hole then spent 30 minutes with the bit screeching and hardly making any impression on the tile - it got there eventually.
Don't waste your money, just very poor quality and poor performance
Great little cutter! I have cut 5 holes (various diameters) from 8mm tiles so far and the cutter still looks like new. Cut the tile in the garden with a hose pipe spraying constantly onto the cutter/tile AND cut at 180 RPM (3 rotations per second is easily countable by eye). I used a cordless drill/driver as my electric drill wouldn’t spin slowly enough.
The manufacturer instructions say 200 RPM max, if you go above this speed, or don’t use enough water, then you will probably burn out the tungsten carbide cutting tooth and only get 1 circle before it’s blunt.
When used to cut hard, thick floor tiles, this wasn't up to the job. I needed to use a separate tile drill to cut the pilot hole and even then it didn't manage the joh. Remember to use a piece of masking tape or duct tape over the central pilot hole to stop the drill bit skidding across the surface.
