Excellent one of the best detectors out there for DIY
Great tool, took bit of practise but I used it to map out pipes and electrics under the large plywood floor boards of our house before cutting and lifting.
Have tried to find studs and cables but all it does is show something? As to what it is I have no idea. I have tested it where I know there is a stud and it doesn’t pick it up?
Easy to use and gives a clear reading. Would definitely recommend.
Voltage setting does not find cables within a dot & dab wall. Also struggles to pin pint cables on the old fashioned plaster & wooden lat walls. Tested on a wall where I knew there was cables due to undergoing refurbishment and would only pick the cables up on metal detection mode. Would not recommend to any other trades person.
Could not find any stud on only one piece of board and skim of plaster ended up using bradawl
I have no idea if I'm using this wrong, or it's faulty or that it just doesn't do what it says. After moving in to a brand new home, I want to find out where joists are. It's hit and miss, sometimes it find something, then you could run it against the wall again and it doesn't find anything.
As others have found, this tool performs terribly. I tried to use it to determine the route of a cable within a plaster ‘dot and dab’ wall. It could have been anywhere within a 1/2 m span. I gave up and carefully poked a hole where I wanted to attach a fixing and ensured the cable wasn’t directly behind. Needless to say I returned which was done in store without fuss.
Constantly gives false detections. On other occasions it doesn't detect cables just below the surface.
Very poor & returned for a refund after using on a plasterboard wall only.
The product instructions advice may not work so don’t rely on it!!
Not sure about the accuracy of this. Moving to a new home and I wanted something to tell me where pipes etc are before drilling etc. Tested tit at my current house and am getting some very odd results. It is picking up a signal for cables and pipes where I know there aren't any. Will test at new home but may be forced to return it.
The multi detector takes the guesswork and worry out of putting up shelf brackets
I was dubious about purchasing this after reading the very mixed reviews. I bought it and tried it on a lathe and plaster ceiling, with insulation and boards above not expecting much. It identified the joists quite clearly and made the job of installing downlights so muchg easier and in a fraction of the time. Overall very impressed so far. You do need to test in different modes if you want to identify joists, cables etc as well.
I bought this being sceptical, there are mixed reviews around the internet, everything from “it’s magical” to “complete junk”. So I bought it and when it arrived I ran a test. I’d built a stud wall but only dry walled one side so I knew exactly where everything was. I was astonished as to how accurate it was. Here’s the but... ceilings and existing walls aren’t new stud walls, they’re full of insulation and random debris and services and repair patches. So when I tried to use it on a 50 year old flat roof ceiling to find joists it was pretty useless. So, it’s going to have its uses. I’ll keep it but don’t expect miracles.
Not used much yet. Seems accurate on power cables. Yesterday to test on plastic water pipes in the wall
Great product excellent service
This was recommended to us so that our maintenance team could avoid pipework when carrying out jobs. It has been brilliant and we are really pleased with it.
Bought for my daughter's wildlife rescue charity, to detect air rifle pellets in birds, confirming they had been shot, therefore helping with diagnosis and treatment. A different, cheaper detector wouldn't detect the lead, so suggested a professional grade multi scanner such as used by builders and electricians
