When it's arrived, I found that the contents had fallen out the tube and I had to put the small balls back and reseal. Very expensive for what it is.

I order two of these cartridges each year to neutralise the acidic condensate produced by my two gas boilers. Without them the condensate produced can attack the solvent weld joints in the pipework that carries it to the drain.
The refills are a quick and economical way to recharge the Cartridge .
Newer design now has a plastic case but fits easily into the cartridge case.
Easy to fit is in a plastic mesh rather than fabric.
Buying this refill once a year means I don't have to buy a whole new cartridge. It's pretty easy to unscrew the cartridge, chuck out the old innards and put the new cartridge in (I have no plumbing expertise whatsoever). A bit less plastic going to landfill.
I need these filters yearly and have not found anyone else who stocks them.
Also the sometimes are supllied in a plastic cartridge which does not swell un in the holder like the sacks do, so easier to remove.
Think they must have upgraded as different from the photograph which I've ordered before. This is more robust and most likely wont disintegrate so will be a much better solution to gathering acid from the condensing water
Different design to previous item purchased so will wait and see. I replace this each year the earlier version outer “casing” was fabric and tended to disintegrate presumably due to the acid in the evaporated water. Found it blocked the outlet pipe so hope new version stops that happening. This version is in plastic tubing so hoping it holds together better.
As part of the annual service of my heating system installation it is necessary to change this filter. Tool Station stock it and deliver to the door at a very reasonable price
Even though the website showed the cartridges were out of stock, the replacement cartridges were delivered within a few days. Very easy to replace the existing cartridge (I am just a practical DIYer), and definitely worth it, when compared to the replacing the entire unit.
