Needs no seperate MCB. The green blob on the top is a NO/NC switch which presumably be used to signal a fault to a monitoring circuit. Visual inspection is recommended when the RCD is tested.
A good quality SPD at a reasonable price but unfortunately not suitable for my Wylex unit returned for a refund
Type 2 SPD fits perfectly into dist board , with the live on bottom attached straight to bus bar. And with no MCB required takes minimal room up in dist board

but busbar connection position matches Axiom and is different from say MK. So, if fitting to MK you will need to bend the copper busbar.
It could be improved by providing flexible PE and N leads (like RCBOs come with.)
This device is excellent as it only uses 1 way and qualifies with the latest edition of Wiring Regulations 18th edition. The device also has a built in 30mA Trip unit for extra protection. When fitting the device, make sure the neutral and earth cables are kept as short as possible.

Haven't fitted yet as it didn't come with cables, but they are on the way. Very impressed at the price compared to the big brands and even more impressed that it only takes up a single module compared to the 3 that some take up (1 for the MCB and 2 for the SPD)
Some sites say this needs an MCB, others say it doesn't. I phoned Axiom directly to check and they told me that it doesn't.
Much cheaper than branded. Unabke to assess if its working as no way of measuring surges. Easy to fit, standard din rail. Good price.

Quite confusing as some sites think this SPD neeeds MCB / Fuse backup. Ive gone with the ' no MCB reqired'. Finger's crossed.
Great Product. Fitted to a non Axion fuse board easily and provides the protection required at a much more competitive price than similar products.
Does the job the same as any type 2 single phase domestic SPD but much cheaper
