Logic4training acquires Coventry-based Xtra Skills, expanding its plumbing, heating, and Gas ACS training into the Midlands.
Trades training provider Logic4training has acquired Coventry-based Xtra Skills, marking its official expansion into the Midlands region. Known predominantly as a major South East training operator, Logic4training completed the acquisition on 1st September to bolster its network of trade assessment centres.
Xtra Skills delivers a range of commercial and domestic plumbing and heating qualifications. Its portfolio includes Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) gas assessments, OFTEC oil training, and specialised boiler fault-finding courses. The acquisition allows Logic4training to deliver its structured trade programmes to engineers and installers based outside London and the Home Counties.
For plumbers, heating engineers, and gas fitters operating in the Midlands, greater local access to ACS reassessments and fault-finding modules reduces travel overheads when maintaining credentials. While this change does not alter the direct shelf price of boilers, pipework, or press fittings at merchants like Screwfix, Toolstation, or local plumbing stockists, staying qualified is mandatory to purchase restricted gas items and complete sign-offs. Installers looking to expand into heat pumps, oil, or fault diagnostics can now compare local course fees and availability across a wider corporate network.
Increasing the availability of qualified heating technicians helps address regional skills shortages in the building services sector. As heating technology transitions toward hybrid systems and renewable energy standards, accessible regional hubs ensure local installers can complete necessary upskilling and compliance checks without traveling long distances.
