Professional Builder magazine features the Hultafors BT5M Class I measuring tape in its monthly giveaway for UK tradespeople.
Professional Builder magazine has launched its latest monthly trade giveaway, featuring the Hultafors BT5M measuring tape as part of its November prize package. The promotion offers UK tradespeople the opportunity to win Class I accuracy measuring tools through an online entry system hosted on the publication's website.
The featured Hultafors BT5M represents the high-precision end of the hand tool market. Class I certification ensures exceptional accuracy over five-metre distances, making it suitable for precise measuring tasks across various building and fitting trades where tight tolerances are required.
What does this mean for a UK tradesperson or DIYer actually buying this kit — does it change what they should pay, buy, or watch out for?
While this specific magazine promotion offers a chance to win tools for free, it highlights an important distinction for buyers choosing hand tools at merchants like Screwfix, Toolstation, or Travis Perkins. Standard measuring tapes usually carry a Class II rating, which is sufficient for general construction work. However, joiners, kitchen fitters, and electricians working to precise specifications should look specifically for Class I rated models like the Hultafors BT5M. While Class I tapes carry a price premium over standard options, verifying accuracy ratings before buying prevents costly measuring errors on site.
