While this issue does not immediately alter the retail price of consumer power tools or materials at Screwfix or Toolstation, it could impact workload scheduling for trade businesses involved in domestic and commercial renewables. Installers should manage customer expectations regarding connection timescales and keep a close eye on local DNO capacity constraints before specifying heavy electrical loads.
Despite the current setbacks, the sheer volume of work required to rectify grid shortfalls ensures long-term demand for skilled electrical contractors, linespeople, and civil engineering workers. Resolving these bottlenecks will require sustained investment in domestic grid infrastructure, creating extended pipeline opportunities for specialized subcontractors across the UK infrastructure sector.
